Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka: A Vegetarian Restaurant in Sofia, Bulgaria Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka is a restaurant located in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria. The restaurant offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as a selection of gluten-free and dairy-free options. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka, and I was very impressed with the food and service. The menu is extensive, with something to suit everyone's taste. I started my meal with the mushroom soup, which was rich and flavorful. For my main course, I had the vegan moussaka, which was hearty and satisfying. I finished my meal with the chocolate cake, which was moist and decadent. The service at Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Sofia. Here are some specific details about my experience: Food: The food was all very well-prepared and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the mushroom soup, the vegan moussaka, and the chocolate cake. Service: The service was attentive and friendly. The staff was happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The restaurant is located in a historic building, and the interior is decorated with traditional Bulgarian elements. Here are some recommendations for future visitors: Try the mushroom soup. It is a hearty and flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. Order the vegan moussaka. It is a hearty and satisfying dish that is sure to please. Save room for dessert. The chocolate cake is moist and decadent. Overall, I would highly recommend Shtastlivetsa Vitoshka to anyone looking for a great vegetarian dining experience in Sofia.

Shtastlivetsa has become one of those places in Sofia that I return to with genuine pleasure. From the moment you walk in, there’s a sense of warmth and calm — elegant, but never trying too hard. The atmosphere feels welcoming, with just the right touch of sophistication. The service is truly outstanding — friendly, professional, and always attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear the staff take pride in what they do, and that makes a big difference. The food is consistently excellent. Every dish, from starter to dessert, feels carefully thought through — beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. The wine list is equally impressive, with a great selection that pairs wonderfully with the menu. What I also really appreciate are the reasonable prices for the quality offered. You get that fine-dining experience without the stiffness or the inflated bill at the end. All in all, Shtastlivetsa is a place where you can truly enjoy yourself — great food, great service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer.

This restaurant is an absolute treasure for anyone wanting to experience authentic Bulgarian food. From the moment we sat down, everything was just right — incredible flavors, warm hospitality, and a perfect location right on the main boulevard. The highlight was definitely the famous Shopska salad, fresh and bursting with flavor, followed by a variety of local specialties that were both hearty and delicious. Every dish felt like a celebration of Bulgarian culinary tradition. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting — ideal for both tourists and locals. And the best part? Very affordable prices for such high-quality food and service. It’s rare to find a place that combines authenticity, great taste, and value so well. If you're in Sofia and want to dive into Bulgarian cuisine, this place is a must-stop. Highly recommended!

My wife and I dined here and had a very strange experience at this restaurant.

Firstly, the atmosphere is excellent, there's a great sitting area and a nice centerpiece in the middle.

The service however, was one of the strangest I've seen anywhere in the world. We sat down and ordered our food. Both of us got one dish each - a salad and a meat dish.

The server brought a meat dish and placed it in front of me, which looked a bit odd and is meant to be a kebab, the server and I exchanged looks over this dish as I was visibly confused, but I figured okay perhaps it's a different take on it. Then I waited a couple minutes till my wife's dish arrived so we could eat together. After 20 minutes there was still no dish for her and my food had started to get cold so I started eating. Then finally, almost half an hour later, a kebab dish arrives. Now there is real confusion when I ask what is going on as my wife never got her dish.

The server then realized his mistake and apologized profusely. I said I understood and then said what can we do about this - he said not to worry and that he would bring the salad that was offered. He then took away the 'wrong' dish which was half eaten.

Then, the salad finally comes - an hour + after it was ordered. By the time we finish the restaurant is closed and we've had to spent a long time there. The bill comes and it shows that both dishes - including the one that the waiter mistakenly delivered is on there. I refused to pay for the extra dish and he was insisting and yet also apologizing, we have to go back and forth multiple times before I ask for the manager. Then suddenly, it's okay - though the manager never came - and I got cash back for the extra dish that I did not order (though still had to pay the full amount on my card).

I believe what happened is that the server did not want to own up to his mistake and gave us the money out of his own pocket. Which of course, is not very nice for either of us. I have never had such an odd experience at a restaurant before and it left a bad taste...
