The Golden Sheep Brewhouse — Restaurant in Varna

If I could give this place no stars I would! Just left after attempting to buy a meal and beer. I was so excited to have a brew pub right across the street from my hotel, but truly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in five weeks of traveling!

I went in to ask the bartender about the dark beer, whether it was sweeter or bitter. The waitress looked at me like I’d grown a second head and said “what?” The bartender took over and answered, so I said I’ll sit down. A few minutes later, a beer was put in front of me - I had never been asked what size I wanted - and I asked for a menu. I was very clear I wanted to eat as well.

Short version of this story, there were three waitresses, a bartender, and someone who looked like a manager in the place. Not one ever checked on me, never came to take my order, nothing. It was stunningly unwelcoming! I finished my beer and STILL no one had asked if I wanted to order. I got up, let them know how I felt, paid and left. I have no idea what the problem was, I go to brewpubs overseas often and have never had an experience like this.

Food was okay, but unfortunately the server ruined the whole experience. The server was a woman with big lips and glasses. It seemed like she didn’t understand English. Their menu was in English, so this was weird. We ordered dry aged Angus beef, wich is kinda expensive so we were expecting really good food and experience.

Unfortunately the server didn’t understand what we wanted, even though we said many times we wanted “sides” and “sidedish”. Like salad, chips or such. We asked several times if the dish css as me with such sides and gave examples as stated above. She said yes.

When we got our food, we didn’t get any sides and we asked for “sides” and she just said “yes”. Obviously she didn’t understand. So we asked for chips and she sighed and went to order some from the kitchen. I wanted to get some salad, but I thought she wouldn’t understand so I just gave it up. When we got the chips, we had already finished our meat.

The meat was alright, nothing more. The beer was excellent though.

But the server ruined our evening. Who wants to eat plain beef for the entire meal? Also we waited around 1 hour 15 minutes for our food (just the meat).

I am not one to complain much, but this server was useless, sorry to say. We will never...

In one word, our experience was disappointing...

The idea is good, the place is big and fairly spacious, they have a pretty good kids area with 2 entertainers. Reserving a table on the phone was great, the person on the other end of the line was helpful.

Unfortunately the service on site was not good. The food was meh at best. Some food items were brought in late. I got their beef burger, which had a weird minced meat paddy, that didn't taste great. We liked their wings. But the chicken fillet with veggies was pretty bland. Their amber beer was okay, average and drinkable. A few times a server wanted to bring us a check and items from a different table. FYI, the price for the steak is per 100 grams and most steaks are 300-400 grams, so be careful with that.

The kids area, while nice, got super crowded in no time. So we had to take our toddler out of there. The entertainers seemed to care about the kids, so no complaints there. But there were too many kids...
