We had some referrals to this Izakaya and were ready to get there, unfortunately it disappointed across all aspects. First thing you notice walking in is how dirty the place is, garbage from guest under and around tables not cleaned frequently. We sat down and had to clean our own table as it still had bits of food and liquids on it (yuck) then grabbed some choices on menu in book, wall and whiteboard. It took us 5 minutes to get confirmation of a choice on board as the staff all uncertain of it, our choice from the wall ended up with wrong result as waitress misread A3 to be A30, thus needing to wait for the reorder. Ordered the Sapporo beer as described in menu as black label direct from Japan…only to get the imported version made in Vietnam (so sad). The food overall was decent although Gyoza was not grilled well and still super soft. The service was a big let down but with the lack of attention to the cleanliness and even allowing people to smoke (drunk lady freely vaping inside)….it’s a clear no go again for us. So many other quality Izakaya here in PP this one needs to seriously up its game or it’s going to...
Read moreI have been here three times and generally the food and service here is good. The Japanese chef and his Thai (I think) partner serve authentic Japanese food with great hospitality.
BUT on the third time here (28 Dec), both of them were not around during lunch time and we got the following:
order beef curry rice and after waiting for 25 mins, the server came out and told me need to wait another 15 mins more for curry rice and whether I want to order something else.
order ramen with ajitsuke egg (you can take a look at the extremely overcooked doneness) without bean sprouts (they gave me bean sprouts nonetheless)
Ordered kakuni and it was so tough, I couldn’t eat it at all and left it there
Reflected the above to the wait staff and she just gave a sheepish smile.
So, if you want to eat here due to the generally good reviews, I would recommend you take a look at whether the Japanese chef and his Thai partner are around in the restaurant. IF they are not around, turn away and go eat...
Read moreDon’t be fooled by the positive reviews and photos. I was there for lunch with my fiancée, we both ordered different flavour ramens. The broth is well thicken, but way too salty.
When they asked if we needed anything to drink, we didn’t order anything like coke or beer.. just the typical “iced tea” as we thought it’s the regular drink they offer at any local restaurant or noodle place. As the ramen was too salty, I asked for one more glass of tea. Never had a thought in mind that it would be charged to $1.25 a glass (Non refillable!!), and the tea wasn’t even coloured nor tasted like proper...
