Phnom Penh Katari Hotel — Hotel in Khan Boeng Keng Kang

Not sure why this hotel is a 4 star hotel especially after travelling throughout Vietnam for 10 days staying at other 4 star hotels that seem to go out of their way to welcome you. |Our bed was as hard as rocks would have been better off sleeping on the pool lounge. It would appear that the mattress was upside down , for whatever reason we were trying to guess why, and when I tried to explain this to the young lady at reception she had no idea what I was saying and thought I was talking about the air conditioner. It wasn’t until I complained to our travel agent that we got a response from the hotel , who offered us to upgrade our room, which I think we should have had in the first place as it was a lot nicer than our original room. The bed was slightly more comfortable, and when we said that the old mattress was hard all we got was a shrug.|Also the door in our original room to the outside air conditioning unit looked like anyone could have accessed our room from the outside, even though it was locked, I could the sun shining through.|The pool area looked like it needed a renovation with one of the pool lounges being supported by a table. My son leant on the glass pool fence on the 12th floor and it moved significantly.|Breakfast was ordinary and had to seek some out to order eggs. This would have been our worst hotel...

If you want to have poor quality sleep please go ahead and book this hotel. There is a massive construction project next to the hotel, huge jack hammers are operated on site from 6.00am to 7/7.30 pm followed by lifting of the rubble through the night.Horrible noise through the day and most part of the night resulting in poor quality sleep.

The breakfast buffet has limited options and there is no body there to help your baggage to the car and out of the car! So if you are travelling with family please avoid this hotel.

Very unhelpful reception staff and we had to tell them many times that we are travelling with young kids and need connecting rooms, the rooms were booked well in advance and when we arrived they told us that the previous guest have not vacated and they will vacate only at 8pm!

The worst experience and service I have never encountered in my life with front desk clerk trying to ripe me off last night. Checked on website before arrival there's available "Superior Double Room" saying "book now, pay later". But upon arrival, the front desk clerk tried to charge us 150% of our booked online room price and later on asked us to deposit 200% in order to stay. So we ended up trying to leave through elevator to their ground floor parking where we came up from, but the clerk said "this elevator is for customer only, and you are not our customer. You have to go through the front stairs to leave the building."

I hope this hotel management group will look into this clerk behavior and provide future travelers with better accommodation experience where Phnom Penh is such a nice city to travel and stay but not my...
