I visited Shiva Shakti on the podium floor of Exchange Square on a Tuesday during the Pchum Ben festival and was glad to see they remained open with a positive atmosphere. I ordered the chole bhature with extra achaar (pickles) on the side. The bhatura (fried bread) was excellent—soft, chewy, and fresh, without leaving crumbs, indicating it was made perfectly. The chole (chickpeas) were decent, though not as flavorful as other places like Krishna’s in Saigon. The achaar, unfortunately, seemed to be the standard grocery store variety.
For a holiday meal in an empty restaurant, it was a solid experience. However, I noticed that their POS system adds tax to line items, which made the pricing feel a bit higher. Additionally, they served me water without asking and charged for it, though they offered to remove it from the bill after I mentioned it, which I appreciated. Overall, the meal didn’t break the bank, and the service was polite.
With sister branches in Myanmar, they seem to be doing well, and while there’s room for improvement—especially with transparency—I enjoyed the experience. I give it four stars, and I’ll likely return after exploring other restaurants...
Read moreStandard Indian specialty restaurant with good service and average menu.. The good thing about this place is that the food is prepared fresh so you don't have to worry about eating stale or recycled food. The down side of this is that the wait time for the food to arrive is well over 30 mins ..
The food I ordered was prepared well but was overly oily and spiced which is not good for your stomach if you are going to eat here everyday. The rates are fairly high keeping in mind the posh neighborhood it is located in .. the restaurant advertises a list of local and foreign dignitaries who have dined here ..

The food was excellent, refined taste for ordinary dishes, but they were kind of pricey for local people. On top of that, the final bill added additional $ to each item. Plus 5% service charge. Also the portions were very small. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice and pleasant. It was very quiet at weekday lunch, not many customers. We ordered: 5Black pepper chicken: very tender and tasty, it’s like $2 for every small piece of chicken though. 4Kashmiri Naan: very good. 5*Palak Paneer: fine taste but small portion.
It’s a great restaurant if you don’t mind...
