The night markets are on the corners of streets 106/108 and riverside. All the stalls have their own rain/shade covers and the ropes and awnings are designed for Asian adults so of you are over 5 foot tall you will have to bend down to stop your head from being caught up in the ropes /wires used for the awnings. In the middle of the the night markets they have food stalls, be very careful as none of them have refrigerators and the meats, fish, have been sitting in the hot sun and warm nights, even the fruits and vegetables as in salads have been washed in unhygienic water. Many a tourist have eaten here thinking its cheap food, as it is but many find the aftereffects in a few hours by sitting on the toilet for the next few days. If you are a westerner then the shoes and clothing are only made for small asian people NOT westerners. All the stall holders at the night markets also have the same stalls at the Russian markets and Central markets. Its worth a look if you have nothing to do at night, but eating here to save a $1 if you are traveling by bus, train, car, plane don't eat anything at the night markets, if you are looking for a nice cheap place to eat and see some after dark attractions walk along to street 104 and visit the Australian pub and restaurant called the Pickled Parrot, sitting outside is like sitting on an island in the middle of the red light district, you are safe here and eat and watch the married men looking for their granddaughters. Its the smallest street in Phnom Penh Cambodia as in length and width. So if you are with your wife, girlfriend, or with your husband or boyfriend this is the place to see the dark side of Cambodia from the tiny island called the Pickled Parrot, it's only 3 minutes walk from the night markets, Best of luck with your holiday in Cambodia. Two photos are the Pickled Parrot...
Read moreMy experience at Phnom Penh Night Market was extremely disappointing. The market lacked the lively and vibrant atmosphere I was hoping for, and the selection of items was mediocre, with many products priced far too high compared to other markets in the city.
The vendors’ attitudes made it worse—most were rude and seemed completely uninterested in making sales. They barely acknowledged customers and acted like they were just passing time. When I tried to ask about prices or negotiate, many vendors responded dismissively, and there was a clear lack of understanding of English, making it challenging to communicate even for simple questions. It felt like they had no interest in engaging with tourists or making the shopping experience enjoyable.
The only highlight was the food stalls, where the vendors were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely eager to make sales. However, even that wasn’t enough to make up for the overall disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this market for anyone looking for an authentic or enjoyable shopping experience—there are better options in Phnom Penh where customer service is prioritized, and language barriers aren’t as much...
Read moreThey have some serious bargains here! This place is awesome.
They have street parking for a nominal fee all and the market. Crossing the street may be a little tricky, so be very careful!! There's no crosswalks, (usually no stop lights either 😕) and the traffic doesn't stop. You just kind of have to inch forward and the traffic comes towards you (kind of like playing the frog 🐸 game LOL). They cars and motorcycles will go around you. Although, at the time, it didn't feel like it . . .
There's definitely a lot to buy from clothes (men's, women's, and children's) to shoes to accessories (belts, purses, bags, bookbags, etc) to souvenirs to food!! You name it, and they pretty much have it.
All the items that are for sale are negotiable, so you can get a good deal. I recommend bringing a local with you, so you know the base price of the items you are purchasing. Otherwise, you are very likely to overpay. Another option may be to walk around and check the prices before buying. Negotiating usually begins as you are walking away 😆
P.S. the pictures are sideways bc I accidentally left my camera on but I guess it...
