I have been a fan and advocate of at Vi-La Palace since I ad my first meal there in 1999, I have enjoyed almost all of the menu items and would recommend all of the food Ken and Joy serve.
One of my favourites in the Rare Beef Pho, it is a great bowl of steaming stock with noodles vegetables and rare beef that cooks in the stock. Another favourite of mine is Bahn Cahn Lao which is a Loatian version of chicken noodle soup, it is served with thick udon noodles, chunks of shredded chicken and a fantastic stock it aslo get served with something called chinese donuts it is a fantastic meal.
There is always something for everyone, from spring rolls and salad rolls to deep freid wonton, crispy chicken wings, spicy shrimp or Calamari it is all good. If you are not sure what to have try one of the combination plates but make sure you have an appetite because you will not be disappointed.
Vi-La Palace is a family owned and operated restaurant and the family truly embodies what family restaurant is supposed to mean, Ken is the chef, Joy runs the front of the restaurant while Melissa and Rebecca look after the needs of the customer and where he can Jackie helps out to.
My personal opinion, of the numerous asian dining establishments in the greater Abbotsford area there is...
Read moreThe good -This restaurant is clean, very well decorated with warm lighting. Their service is very friendly and attentive. The not so good. - Vi-la is by far the priciest Vietnamese restaurant I've visited in Abbotsford, and I've been to all of them. I do not mind pricey as long as the quality justifies the price. I ordered rare beef tripe pho, beef skewer, and deep fried calamari. The pho bone broth lacked flavor, beef skewers were slightly tough, a tad bit over-salted and not well presented overall. The calamari was not crispy enough on the outside and soaked up a lot of oil. Their food, in my opinion, is mediocre AT BEST and does not justify the price they ask for. The 3 stars I give are for the great service and atmosphere. Their food for me is a 2/5. I do not understand why so many people set the bar so low for food quality and...
Read moreThis restaurant's food deserves a lower rating than one star! That's the worst Pho I have ever tasted in my entire life! The beef tasted so OLD and the soup base tasted nothing like Pho yummy soup; it's salt water!!!! And it cost $11.50 before tax and tip!!!! In fact when the waitress served me that bowl, she literally said "Beef soup" and I replied "I ordered Pho!" My boy had crispy chicken wing appetizer ($14.50) which according to him only the crispy batter tasted good. As for the chicken wing itself, my boy remarked "It tasted like the meat you last trashed away because it was old!" I tried it and it literally tasted like some meat that's left in the freezer for over 3 years! Don't go there! I should have driven another 7 minutes to 264 Street near Save-on Foods, where's a Vietnamese restaurant that I could have a real...
