Terrible experience and had to leave before ordering anything. We requested an inside table with a nice view (it was a hot day) and have been asked to wait far away from the entrance on the "rocks" while our table is getting ready. After about 10-15 minutes we have been guided to a table at the very back of the restaurant and behind a ~meter wide pillar! We have asked the server (Elizabeth) to see if there is a possibility to move as most of the place was empty including big tables for our party size of 6. She was hesitant and not very happy about this but checked with the manager anyways. The response was that it will take 15-20 minutes to have the empty table beside the window get ready for us, emphesizing that the only available tables are for 2 or 4 people. She started pouring water for us and we shared that we are willing to break into two groups to help with the situation. She stopped serving water for the remainfer of 4 people and took the water bottle with her while while asking her manager. The Manager kept repeated the same response regarding the table for 6 even we repeatedly mentioned that we are ok with an smaller table. He mentioned that he is making a bigger table ready for us and we need to wait for 20 minutes. We asked the server to bring back the water as it was a very hot day while the table is getting ready. SHE REFUSED and said it "It doesn't make sense to pour water both here and at the new table" refusing eye contact. After this rude, unprofessional, and "R" experience, we all votted to leave the place and don't get disrespected anymore.
Note: Our group did not have as light of a color palate as the rest of the restaurant. Unbelievable to have this experience in this...
Read moreThe view, the classy setting, the incredible food, the kind and friendly staff. This is luxury! I feel like you can’t come all the way to the mountains and not check out the beautiful lake and mountain view of Lake Louise, and better yet complete your experience by dining at The Fairmont’s restaurant Louiza. We went for a hike and when we started to head back to the transit centre hub spot we noticed the servers out encouraging people to come and eat at Louiza. It was noon on a Saturday and we thought for sure the restaurant would be packed, but oddly enough it was very quiet and we were seated in a section all to ourselves for quite awhile. Service was exceptionally fast, which was appreciated with my hungry little ones. The simple kids menu offers a pasta menu, grilled chicken or fish, tomato cheese flatbread and chicken fingers. The menu is Mediterranean inspired and I had to try the Burrata Salad ($28) summer melon, jamón ibérico, crispy artichoke, pistachio, organic honey. This salad was incredible! It was such a feast for the eyes I didn’t want to eat it, but once you start you can hardly stop! The flavors are perfectly and well combined. We also ordered the Grilled Beef Shish Kebab ($30) flatbread, hummus, garlic sauce, marinated tomato, pickled peppers, mint, cucumber and feta. So flavourful! And I wasn’t sure about the mint but even with quite a bit of it I ended up really enjoying this dish. We finished off the meal with some of their ice cream - vanilla and pistachio. And the pistachio hands down was the favourite...
Read moreThe food was excellent, and the waitstaff were all very pleasant and accommodating. However, I was quite disappointed by the attitude of one staff member, a lady with long black hair wearing a coat.
My daughter was having a small tantrum, so I asked a waitress if she could stand on the long bench beneath the large window to look at the view and calm down. The waitress kindly said yes. A few minutes later, I sat there too while holding my daughter, and after we paid our bill, one of my friends sat there as we waited for another to return.
That’s when the lady approached us and told us, in a sharp and condescending tone, that the area wasn’t for sitting. She spoke loudly enough for nearby guests to hear, which was quite embarrassing. I calmly mentioned that I had asked permission earlier, but she replied with a firm “no” and walked away.
It wasn’t just what she said, but how she said it. It was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Having worked as a manager myself, I understand how such situations should be handled, which is discreetly and respectfully, particularly when guests are not causing any disruption.
I’ve always had wonderful experiences with customer service in Banff, and it’s disappointing that this happened at the Fairmont, where hospitality is usually...
