Came on a Thursday evening around 6pm in April (non peak szn) and they do not take reservations unless you are staying at the Fairmont. There were plenty of tables and we got seated by one of the large windows facing the mountain (we were lucky and also it was quiet in general). I could imagine this place gets quite a bit busier during peak szn.
Definitely get the Prix fix menu if you're coming with 2 people and want to eat their cheese fondue.
I saw a table order the meat fondue and it looked ok, but definitely not as good as the cheese fondue that came with the fixed menu. And the cheese fondue "main" didn't seem like a worthwhile endeavour.
For 2 with the fixed menu, you share one pot of fondue and it is more than enough! The fondue cheese base is the same regardless of which option you choose, and the only diff is the garnish... So if you choose the truffle one, you're paying a few more bucks for some truffle shavings.
The server was really nice and gave us a few extra pretzel rolls as she recommended we dip it in the cheese. She was spot on. Dipping the chunky pretzel rolls in the cheese was decadent heaven! After finishing the fondue, wife and I were already quite full!
The tenderloin steak that was served afterwards was perfectly cooked to our liking and very well flavoured. The nice part was they also give a large bowl of vegetables to share. A very nice touch to keep things a little healthier!
Lastly, we got the chocolate fondue for dessert (1 to share between 2 pple). We got the dark chocolate as we figured what you dip will already be sweet. We were spot on. They gave a few small cakes, some strawberries, and my wife's fav, a few pieces of homemade marshmallows.
Overall, everything was lots of fun, delicious, and enjoyable! I think the fixed menu was about $95 per person, but I felt it was worth it given how much food you get and what a nice experience...
Read moreWe were able to book a reservation via email prior to arrival. The space itself is very unique looking, with a wall fall of wines with servers having to climb a ladder to retrieve ones that are positioned high (like a library). We ordered the preset menu for two, that included a choice of cheese fondue to start, a filet mignon main, and dessert.
The cheese fondue... was cheese fondue. I don't know what to look for to be hones. I enjoyed it but am in no rush to get it again.
The filet was excellent. The restaurant manager said that they get the meat daily from a nearby farm. Whether that's true or not I don't know but it was tasty.
The dessert was described as being for two, but was one small plate. Not a big deal as we were full anyway from the first two courses, but for those who like their desserts it could be an issue.
our server was excellent. He was attentive but not overbearing and made sure to give us our space.
As the choice of restaurants around there isn't that broad, I would return here again and perhaps try one of the other fondues, and another main. If anything would return for the atmosphere...
Read moreMy fiancé and I were staying at the nearby Deer Lodge (500 metres away) for my birthday. We called the day before and attempted to make a reservation for the following evening but were told we could not as we were not guests, however if we attended around 630pm the next day we would likely be seated. We called ahead the next day and were told to wait until 8pm. We called at 745pm and were told to walk over as there was only one booking at 8pm. When we arrived less then 10 minutes later, we were told that there were now 4 bookings and they simply could not accommodate a 5th. My fiancé and I had planned to order the lobster 3 course fondue meal at $105 per person but I guess because we were not staying at the hotel, our money was not good enough. The pretentious attitude at this restaurant is hilarious. We went and ate at the Post Hotel instead and had an amazing time. We likely will not bother considering this restaurant in the future considering their total lack of decency and customer service if your are not a guest of...
