I’ll refrain from discussing the abysmal parking options in this review as that appears to plague every restaurant in this town and remains largely outside of anyone’s control save for the city. It makes one feel sour at times to write negative reviews, however, a burning passion to expose the practices of small chains for the wariness of potential customers and the betterment of the business itself is enough to push through; thus is this critiquing born. Food was mediocre and honestly disappointing. Both my mother and I had an obnoxious number of eggshells in our primarily egg based dishes. Portion sizes were small and disproportionate- not for the sake of fair pricing or culinary identity, rather, the ‘short rib’ dish I had ordered came with three slivery cuts of meat, two questionably cooked eggs that were supposed to be sunny side up, and the criminally undercooked hashbrowns outnumbered the rest of the dish proportions ten to one. The eggs were undercooked to the point where the separate components of an egg outside of white albumen and yellow yolk (chalazae, germinal disk, thick albumen) were all identifiable both within my mouth and then at a second glance when I went to eat the other one. This one meal alone cost 21.00 without tax and sans drink. If you’re going to be known for your eggs maybe step up your egg game from a ‘A&W plate’ ordered blue to a ‘Ricky’s’ first. I would be a lot more understanding if it weren’t for the fact that the place was only half busy and my younger sister, who ordered three mini waffles, recieved three thirds of one entire regular waffle in comparison to any actual confection worth nine entire dollars. Would you pay twelve dollars for one entire waffle, when some other breakfast restaurants will charge only fifteen for a plate of three, plus fruit? Thus I deem their food one star. I recommend the company reevaluates their menu and other selections rather than just putting exotic terms in front of every otherwise ordinary item, and that more consideration is put into the cooking of each meal by the staff. More honesty or at least transparency in food would also be appreciated, but I suppose people who like to eat with their cameras and take a single bite won’t exactly have too much of a problem with the proportions. That is, if they knew the dish they were going to recieve was presentation worthy, which wasn’t exactly the case for mine or my sister’s. An additional note from her: change your waffle recipe, when they came out they were hard, cold, and in agreement with her words exactly once I tasted one, taste like baking soda and sugar. Service wise the experience was enjoyable. The cups they provide you with for water are miniscule and need to be refilled constantly, creating a large draw on staff time and resources. Despite this they come by fairly often and the problem is resolved through stubborn manpower. I would advise leaving a pitcher for every table and simply refilling that instead. Outside of this our waitress was polite, on time, and even having noticed the adverse quality of our experience, offered us a discount. I would advise the food is stepped up quick or the company might need to invest in some coupons soon to avoid handing out ten dollars back to every person who eats there. This restaurant owes a lot to its servers. As per atmosphere there isn’t much to write about. No unique aesthetics outside of (mostly) matching tables and chairs and unified cutlery. The place is well lit and the view is nice and that’s about it. The floor could have had less food on it though and the entrance desperately needs to be reworked- for my family to wait for a table alone we had to stand in a fashion that descended the stairs. I would avoid this restaurant if I were visiting this town and even if I were a regular here I might avoid it even more so, lest I go broke and hungry. The Bro’Kin Yolk needs to rethink before anyone should eat there. The coffee is...
Read moreGood but food needs improvements.
We were visiting from out of town and the spot came very highly recommended online for breakfast. I could tell by the menu it was also going to be very interesting food.
I had the bacon Benny and my wife a traditional breakfast. Coffee was good, service was good, the quality was very good. I would go back again and try some other things, but there are a few things needing improvement.
They make their own bacon there which is kinda cool, it tastes like oversmoked jerky. It’s not tough at all, just very heavy seasoning and sugar. They did tell that to us before we ordered though. The taste was not good. I would offer a traditional bacon option, we got my wife’s bacon taken off the bill which they were happy to do.
The has was good, they only offered ketchup packets which I didn’t like. The waffles and eggs were cooked well. Overall. The Benny was good.
The biggest improvement they need to make is the hollandaise. It’s the star of that dish, you should want to dip everything in it and drink. It should be that good. Silly, seasoned, a hint of tangy. My hollandaise was terrible. Bland like it was just yolk and butter , no tang or seasoning at all. It was tasteless.
I think it’s a great spot with lots of potential, but if you’re going to brag about calling in due to long wait times, you...
Read moreWe were happy that they took actual reservations for Mother's Day but annoyed when we got there and that didn't seem to mean anything! They were seating walk up customers before us (even after our reservations) and the hostess response was "we're taking people with reservations and without". That is fine but we should have gotten priority otherwise what's the point?
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor with beautiful views of the mountains. Our server was nice and wished my wife a Happy Mother's Day and brought her out a mini cupcake.
They served Fratello Coffee and our waitress was good and made sure it was always filled up.
My daughters were happy to pick Peach Cobbler French Toast and Nutella Churro Waffles. It was a good size portion and looked good minus the whip cream being melted when brought out.
My wife was happy with the Truffle, Ham and Wild Mushroom poutine and my Shirt Rib Hash could have used more seasoning/flavour. The sunny side up eggs on our 2 dishes were well cooked and yolky.
Would have been a good experience if it wasn't for the reservation which really just meant they pre put you on their wait-list and not have your...
