Komachi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Aurora

i regret not finding out this place sooner! my boys and I came back from snow tubing and we were starving and craving for sushi. i remember someone mentioning about this place and since we only live 15 minutes away, we decided to give it a try! we ordered the salmon combo (the one with the maki, nigiri and sashimi) and some other rolls but the lady owner was super kind and attentive that she stopped me at two rolls saying that that may be enough for the three of us! i thought so too but little did i know my boys and I enjoyed their food so much that we ended up ordering a few more rolls! i also asked if we’d only get one soup because we only ordered one combo but the lady owner was super sweet and offered two more on the house! (i was so thankful because it was such a very cold and snowy day!)

I live in Aurora and have been going to this place for years. It has typically been excellent. Unfortunately the portion size and quality have gone down lately. They had a little price increase recently which was certainly justified and frankly well deserved, but they need to keep the quality and quantity consistent. Will give this another chance, but if it isn't back to the way it was I'll be looking for a new sushi 'go-to'.

Check out the pieces of salmon in this roll. Just because it's not a presentation piece atop rice doesn't mean that you can stuff the garbage in a roll and hope nobody notices. This was basically like the salmon equivalent of gnawing the cartilage off a poor cut of beef.

The atmosphere is simple and the food is well prepared and delicous. I would like to thank the owners of Komachi for offering exceptional value for my money. When my sister and I visited for a bento box lunch at noon, I was very hungry and thought I would probably need something more after eating there. I was happily wrong! The bento box was generous and included miso soup and a small salad. I chose the teriyaki salmon box, and my sister the teriyaki chicken (which was grilled beautifully). Both were delcious along with the other offerings. We were satisfyingly full after eating at Komachi. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for delcious food and honest value for your money, and I hope many people support this restaurant.
