Good afternoon,
I've recently been disheartened by the service received from my local Toyota dealership. I've been a loyal Toyota customer for a long time, and when we purchased our most recent RAV4 new in 2019 from the dealership, we had purchased with it the extended warranty. At some point a few months ago, when the vehicle was still covered by the warranty, the lift gate ceased functioning after making a loud pop and not closing after attempting to lower the lift gate. The hydraulic arms seemed to have jammed and blew the lift gate right out of its hinge, warping the metal and rendering the trunk unusable. I suspected that this may be just what I had purchased the warranty for, figuring that since I had it, the issue would be properly resolved.
I was informed that I would be subject to an inspection and diagnostic to see if the issue would be covered by warranty, where they would inspect the parts of the trunk/lift gate and determine accordingly what the course of action would be. If it was not covered by warranty, I would be on the hook for paying the fee for the diagnostic. A fair approach, I figured, so I decided to commit to the gamble and hope that my issues was covered. To my own, and the shops, surprise, the warranty was quite extensive and so they said that the work would be covered. A couple days went by, and a few inconveniences withstood, and they had my RAV4 back, and the trunk seemed to operate functionally.
Fast forward to this past winter, when the same hydraulic arm of the lift gate seemed to have seized once more and stopped functioning all together. The arm blew the pin that connects it to the bracket right out and the lift gate simply will not function. When I brought it back to the same dealership to have this issue resolved based on prior work being uncompleted, they had informed me that they were aware of this common issue that plagues RAV4s, that it may cost me upwards of $2000 and that while they are well aware of this common issue, my warranty would no longer cover it because it had since run out in April and their 'hands are tied.'
My grave concern here is that this 'common issue' that seems to affect all RAV4s to the point where the service manager, Pasquale Petrozzi, without skipping a beat, came out and identified the issue immediately, was not identified during the diagnostic I would have otherwise had to pay for in the past, and not corrected then when clearly the lift gate pulling itself apart was symptomatic of the hydraulic arms having issues in the first place, from that earlier trip to repair the lift gate. This was either deliberately omitted or erroneously overlooked when the previous work was done, and should have been addressed as part of the fix from the...
Read moreThis is a follow-up to my previous review about Aurora Toyota's gross negligence during a tire change. To recap: after they swapped my winter tires, I discovered every single wheel was dangerously loose. I had to manually tighten them myself â one lug nut spun seven full turns. If I hadnât caught it, I could have lost a wheel on the highway.
Whatâs even more appalling is that I never received any response or apology from the dealership. No follow-up, no concern, nothing. This clearly shows they do not care at all about their customersâ safety or lives.
This wasn't a minor oversight â it was a life-threatening mistake. And their silence speaks volumes.
I will never return to this dealership, and I strongly urge anyone reading this to avoid trusting Aurora Toyota with your vehicle or your safety. They donât deserve your business. I recently had my winter tires swapped at Aurora Toyota, and what happened afterward was absolutely terrifying. A couple of weeks later, after returning from a trip, I noticed a strange and increasingly loud noise coming from my car. When I checked, I was shocked to find that all the wheel lug nuts were dangerously loose- to the point where I could spin the wrench seven full turns to tighten just one of them.
This level of negligence is beyond unacceptable. If I hadnât caught it in time, my wheels could have come off while driving- which could have easily led to a serious accident or worse. This is basic, critical safety work, and thereâs simply no excuse for failing to properly secure wheels after a tire change.
I trusted this dealership with my vehicle and my safety, and they failed both miserably. This was not a mistake â it was...
Read moreTitle: My Personal Experience with Toyota in Canada Hello fellow Iranians in TorontođŽđˇ I want to share my personal experience with Toyota vehicles. Over the past year, I have noticed a significant decline in the quality of Toyota cars and parts. Unfortunately, the vehicles and their components are no longer as reliable as they used to be. Many parts in newer Toyota models last only about one year, and finding replacements can be difficult and expensive. Warranty services and support have also become limited. Based on my personal experience, I would recommend considering other options as well. American, German, and even Korean cars currently offer better quality, features, and reliability than Japanese cars. While Toyota has a good reputation, my experience shows that reality doesnât always match the advertising image. I hope this experience helps you make a better decision when buying a car.
People may not know this, but when the quality of service and support at Toyota dealerships is poor, you donât have to rely only on your local dealer. If you see that they are not handling your case properly, you can follow up through the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which helps customers resolve disputes with businesses, request Goodwill assistance (special support from Toyota for certain cases, even outside of warranty), or even contact Toyota Head Office directly. This way, you will get results much faster and ensure your rights...
