Dave's Place Restaurant — Restaurant in Bancroft

We drove 4 hours to Bancroft for the Princess Sodalite Mine and a meal. We ended up eating here at Dave's Place because the place I wanted to go was closed for their holidays.

Let me tell you, I'm soo glad they were closed and my family got to experience this amazing family run dining experience.

The menu is reasonably priced. They have an amazing selection of food. Their waiter was friendly, smiling, attentive, and quick.

Our food was served hot fresh off the grill, I mean my ribs were warm to the very last bite. The portions were perfect! Looked like too much to eat, but I ate every last bite!

We ordered an adult and child portion of chicken fingers and fries, the kids both said they were THE BEST chicken fingers they had ever had! My daughter ordered the kids chicken and rib platter, devoured it! My love ordered Surf n turf, steak medium rare and tempura shrimp. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly! The shrimp were large, juicy and delicious! The mixed veg served with his meal were phenomenal, one of the best things I have ever tasted. Had I known thats what it was, I would have politely asked to sub coleslaw that was coming with my meal for them. My friend ordered the hot beef sandwich, he inhaled it before I could ask him how it was. He said, "It's absence says it all!" I ordered the rib and wing platter. The ribs there are AMAZING, soo meaty! Not dry, soo tender and juicy, they practically fell off the bone. The wings were perfectly breaded and crispy, perfectly sauced! I'm picky when it comes to coleslaw, theirs is really tasty, super good. And though I said I would have swapped it for the mixed veg, its only because they were so dang GOOD!

It was nice because Dave himself came out, to check on everyone. It's such a lovely, welcoming, cozy atmosphere.

Don’t bother with Dave’s. first impression when entering was that they needed to change their fryer oil, the place was stuffy and stunk of old oil. We decided to stay and ordered our breakfasts. We were asked how we would like our eggs and we both ordered eggs over medium. They arrived very under done with a side of what was supposed to be hash browns. The hash browns were some awful colour of grey, covered in oil and again barely cooked. I left them untouched just based on the appearance of them. Also our food was delivered without cutlery so I had to go looking for the server. Had a look at the filth all around the cash and then made the mistake of looking down the hall leading to the Kitchen. The health inspector simply must stop by, the place is disgustingly filthy. If they were ever inspected perhaps next time the inspector should do it unannounced. Completely disappointed and...

Decided to stop for dinner here as we usually do when in Bancroft. Ordered 4 meals and the first two meals arrived at least 10-15 minutes before the others. We ordered 2 ice water and two cans of pop, the glasses of water tasted like it had soap still in them from being washed. When all the food arrived my girlfriend found a long black hair sitting on top of her fries. Upon further inspection I found an additional 2 cooked into my burger. With letting the waiter know the only thing offered was for a new burger to be made and that required waiting around. After just waiting over 45 minutes from the time our order was taken. We asking for a discount because of the issue and received a $4 discount from the $90 plus bill. This will be the last time we ever stop here after this incident and would no longer recommend...
