I visited Stock multiple times over a week-long stay. Stock is a lovely, surprisingly roomy bistro located within the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel (BSH). Just knowing that you’ve entered a Fairmont property you can assume the quality will be good. You wouldn’t be disappointed here.
The food is very tasty. If you want something warm, you’ve got an assortment of pre-made sandwiches and a daily soup. Though I will say that their soups are a little too salty. Also, as the only alternative to a sandwich, they offer a wrap, in which there was vegan cheese. (Blah! I am not a fan of vegan cheese.) I would remove a star for the saltiness and the lack of low-carb, warm alternatives - but perhaps I’m expecting too much from a bakery and coffee shop. The beverages are top notch. I do always appreciate when food is freshly made with attentive hands, which is what you get here.
The staff are really helpful, despite a long line, they’ll take the time to listen to you to ensure that they’re meeting your every need. I so happened to travelling with a non-egg eating vegetarian; her orders were always modified and slightly complex. The staff were consistently patient, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Decor was fun. Ambiance was made to feel welcoming but also catered to families, with games on the wall. Washrooms are located around the corner, within the hotel. And, of course, everything is clean and spotless. I sat here comfortably for hours on my laptop.
Two more things to note. Firstly, Banff Springs is world-renowned attracting literally bus loads of tourists. It gets BUSY here. The line can stretch into the hotel foyer, easily. Be patient. Secondly, prices reflect this as well. You’re paying to be in BSH, with all its grandeur, as well as the reputation of quality they...
Read moreOrdered 2 Cappuccinos, apple juice and a lemonade! This was on our way to parking, where we had few minutes left on our ticket…also, bought playing card… Then waited…about 5 personnel were working and engaged…but no news of my order! I went and bought two tea boxes also…so paying like 100$ and yet, order not ready! They asked me, are you waiting for something!!?! I said yes!!! So, at least one person jumped on it while the other was in denial mode! Shouting Gregory! Gregory! one of the personnel looked at me, “are you Gregory?” I was like, “if I was, I would have picked up my order! I am clearly not”! From that, I noticed the crew lacks experience… Anyways finally the lady who jumped on the issue, checked with Cashier, noticed nothing was communicated in the system, prepared the order and gave to me! And we got late for our...
Read moreI’m really disappointed with the service from an Asian female staff member at your hotel. She was impatient with her colleagues, rude to guests, and used disrespectful language. I can’t believe a five-star hotel has staff like this. We visited twice and saw the same behavior both times, so it’s clearly not a one-off thing.
As an Asian woman myself, I’m wondering if this staff member only shows her nonprofessional attitude to people of the same race. Regardless, it’s just not right for a five-star hotel to have someone like this working there.
If the hotel charges premium prices, then the service attitude should at least reflect the value of those prices. Otherwise, I highly recommend the customer visiting the café in the town...
