We walked this trail as a family on a slightly drizzly day and it was absolutely beautiful. A lovely combination of riverside trail, forests, meadows, and stunning open valley views. The trail was easy enough to follow from the Surprise Corner trail head. Varied in terrain with some super steep sections but lots of gentle flattish parts. The Hoodoos at the end were slightly underwhelming and the area heaving with other people, so we didn't stay long. On the return leg we must have taken a wrong turn as we ended up roadside at the start of Tunnel Mountain Drive, so instead of retracing our steps we walked back along the road. It was OK, not much traffic, but no views and a very steep hill! Worth the walk if you're looking for something outdoorsy to do. Need a reasonable level of fitness to manage the inclines. Saw lots of lovely red squirrels!

A short intermediate hike with amazing view of the other side of Bow Falls. I said intermediate because its easy at first due to steep decent but you got to climb it all back up and kids had a bit of hard time. About 150m elevation gained on way back up but its totally worth it for the view. There is a tiny beach at the very bottom but beaware of rocks and watch your step. Parking can be very limited on a busy day there is another lot on east side but its a bit of walk. No washroom though so be prepared. Over all highly recommended. Follow for more.

The hoodoos trail is an easy-ish hike, and very close from Banff. The walk starts at a car park at Surprise Corner, and winds its way through forest between the Bow river and Tunnel Mountain. It’s a very nice viewpoint of the hoodoos. We were lucky enough to have a Banff tour guide on site who was giving some educational demonstrations on the wildlife in the park. A nice walk with plenty of squirrels and birds to watch out for.

Parking: I avoided the smaller parking lot attached to the trail itself as there was a parking dispute over a very limited number of spots. There's a bigger parking lot just to the east, which was about five minutes walk to another trail entry.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. The trail itself descends fast at the start, so it would be best to reserve some energy to climb back up. However, most of the trail itself was rather flat easy, with minor ups and downs.

View: The scenery was breathtaking and it was totally worth the day. I'd...
