Food: Food was excellent. I had the bruschetta chicken with mash potatoes and gravy. All of it was very flavourful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the chicken wings. They only have the option of no breading or double breading. Although he enjoyed his meal, he said he would have preferred regular breading. We both also decided to get dessert. He decided to get what seemed like a chocolate lava cake. He enjoyed it and said it was very rich. I had the dulche de leche cheesecake. It was very good, however I would have preferred if they had a crust. Service: We went around 3:30 so there were very few people in the restaurant. Our server was quick, polite, and kind. Her name was Stephanie H. I believe. I was surprised and glad that she offered us coffee/tea with our dessert as I don't often get asked that when I go out for food. She checked on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meals but not so much so that she was interrupting our conversation, which was greatly appreciated. She deserves a raise ;) The manager also came around and picked up our empty plates. It was nice to see a supervisor helping the other staff! Atmosphere/cleanliness: Considering the time of the day, the restaurant was nice and quiet. Everything was clean as well. The lights were slightly dimmer than you would usually see mid afternoon in a restaurant, but that is neither here nor there. The only suggestion I would make is to have an automatic spray in the bathroom as it did smell fairly bad, though I don't expect it to smell like daisies. Hubby and I came to the Barrie Ontario Applebees for lunch today. We were seated right away. Our server Andrea was very friendly and attentive. Very refreshing from many staff at many establishments who seem put out that you ask them for something or are slow moving or chatting with coworkers. We are used to Applebees in the USA so we didn't have expectations of things being the same here....they weren't. The food is not as good. I had the Bourbon Street Chicken with shrimps and mashed potatoes. It is advertised as sizzling it was not. The shrimp were not blackened. The chicken and the shrimps had some spice powder sprinkles on them. The onions and mushrooms were the tastiest thing on the plate. The potatoes looked dried out on the top. I have had this entree in the USA recently and that experience was so much better. It was even on their deal for 1 appetizer and 2 entrees and 2 desserts for $30 USD. My husband had the Oriental Chicken salad today. There was nothing oriental about it. The picture on the menu looks nice but romain lettuce is not oriental! There were 6 almond slivers, hard to find Asian noodles no red or green cabbage as pictured on the menu, no carrots, and the few drops of oriental vinaigrette were hidden under the lettuce not brought on the side as stated on the menu.
