Worst meal ever. My husband, myself and our daughter went for dinner at Baton Rouge, Sunday the 19th. It was an unpleasant experience all around really. Our waitress was okay, but that was the only thing satisfactory about our dinner besides the fries. The menu is pretty small. We wanted to share an appetizer before our meal as we were famished after not eating much all day. We’re both not huge seafood lovers which was what the majority of the appetizer menu depicted. We ordered the shrimp which was cooked in a tangy, sweet and spicy sauce served on a bed of slaw. The shrimp was ok, but the shareable meal was mainly slaw, not shrimp. I had also went into Baton Rouge convinced I would not be ordering a burger for dinner. Sure enough, after checking their menu, I ordered the Baton Rouge burger due to limited choices.I at least was under the impression it would be decent since it was their signature burger. My husband ordered their full course prime rib meal deal for $25. We awaited our meals while our daughter ate her chicken fingers and French fries which were actually pretty good. No complaints with her meal. When our meals arrived, everything looked good, presentation was nice and portion size was decent. Cutting into my burger was where the satisfaction came to a halt. My patty was so red inside, it completely grossed me out. When the waitress came back to check on our meal I explained that I wanted my burger cooked more, she agreed and took it away. When she came back with another burger, my family was pretty much done with their meals. I checked my burger again with the waitress at the table. It was no better. Now I hate wasting food, especially meat and I started to get overwhelmed. I told her I was still not comfortable eating it as my husband and I both just got over food poisoning. I told her to ask the cook to burn it if he had to, as I was not eating it. She took it back for a second time. We sat and waited for a third burger while everyone was done eating, hoping that they would cook it well so that we could just leave and continue on our 2 hour drive home. The third burger came and I was still not satisfied. It looked no different to me and at this point I was extremely overwhelmed, and feeling sick. I told her it was “fine” and that I would just eat it because I was not going to allow a third patty to go to waste. I haven’t sent a meal back as a complaint in probably 10 years. I had a few bites, which to be fair, was not horrible. We asked for our bill right away, turning away the desserts that came with my husband and daughters meal and leaving the unfinished burger. It was obvious we were upset. The bill came quickly, and we weren’t surprised to see not a single item had been compensated, not even the burger. We paid the $100 bill (including tip) and will NOT be back. I scarcely give out 1 star reviews. This establishment earned it.
Note, the manager did come out to ask how the burger was, but at that point, it was too late. I was not wasting anymore food, felt horrible, and just wanted to get out of there. This whole uncomfortable situation had dragged on way too long. This experience has unfortunately ruined my perception of Baton Rouge restaurants, as this was the first one we...
Read moreI'm going to start by saying I'm really not one to complain about restaurants or about my service. Tried going to Moxies but settled going to Baton Rouge because the FoH manager said we could be seated promptly (Moxies had 40 min wait) I've never been to Baton Rouge but I've heard good things so we decided to go because we have an early night. Once seated, I noticed the table was sticky, and there were bits of food on the seats. Restaurant seemed busy so I brushed it off. After waiting 10-15 minutes, server finally greeted us. My partner tried to order a draft beer but they said they had no draft at the moment, only bottles (which was more money for less beer) my partner was already grumpy with the experience so far and we debated paying for drinks and leaving before ordering food but I talked him into staying. We ordered our meals and waited over an hour and 15-20 minutes for the meals to come - in that time, we had no drink refills and hardly were checked up on. I could overhear people around us also complaining about wait times and almost no one had food around us. When our food came, I was sadly very disappointed. My beef ginger soup was lacking.. well, beef and ginger. The lobster was cold and rubbery, my steak was much to be desired, vegetables were practically raw and in my opinion; gross. Mashed potatoes were good though, so I recommend those. The manager (I think?) came around and asked us how we were doing and I vocalized that we were not doing good and we had been sitting for an hour and a half and that we weren't happy - he just said sorry the kitchen is backed up then brushed us off and left. The bill at the end was also incorrect which just further fuelled our frustration over the matter. All in all, we were both incredibly disappointed and felt miserable paying $70+ each to sit nearly 2 hours, have no drink refills and eat a luke-warm mediocre meal. If we were notified they were understaffed or there was longer than normal wait times, we would have been understanding or at least could make decision to go elsewhere. Sadly wont be returning. The sad part is we would have had our food and service faster at moxies even waiting the 40+ minutes...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked in the door, everything was absolutely top notch! The food and the ambience of this restaurant is second to none. We always love coming here and never have had a bad experience. Thank you to our wonderful server, Christina who was so fantastic and sweet! It is clearly obvious that the owners of this charming restaurant really care about their patrons. Thank you too Bardia and Jose for hiring the best!!!!
So, another review of our experience with Baton Rouge in Barrie. Because, we like this restaurant so much, we decided to have a work party here. From the beginning stages of planning with Savvy and some other team members, the process was well thought out and they really went through great measures to accommodate us. We were given three choices of set menu items to select from beforehand which encompassed a number of great selections that would suit every pallet. We were hosting, so naturally, we were the first to arrive. The tables were set and everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. We had a few servers work with us during the meal, but the two main servers were Brooklyn and Taylor. They worked so hard to take care of us the entire evening. They are my version of high end servers who are extremely capable and superb. Savvy (owner) came over to us at one point and we expressed our gratitude and satisfaction with our experience. It was obvious that he took great pride in knowing that we were all pleased with our meals and time there. He was really amazing!!! There was 24 of us!!! We would not only recommend Baton Rouge for couples, families but now, also for large groups as they did a phenominal job. Thanks to all of you for taking your jobs seriously and making our time...
