C K Chinese Food — Restaurant in Barrie

Hello. I don’t like to give negative reviews. However this place warrants it this time being my second time ordering from C&K Chinese food in Barrie. First time was just okay, tbh. But decided to give them another try seeing businesses etc can all have a bad day. But this is a place of food service and isn't it suppose to be made fresh? I guess when they say pick up in 15-20 min. Maybe it’s not being prepared as fresh? I recently placed an order of which was just shy of $100. I don’t suspect the owners will read this review and make any changes. However I don’t want someone else to waste their time, but more so, their hard earned money on food that flat out was not very good at all!

I ordered 6 dishes. The rice wasn’t fresh, the spare ribs looked and tasted like they had been siting around. There was no shrimp in a dish that I know always has it. The noodles were dry with no sauce / flavour that usually comes with individual dishes. The only thing that was somewhat okay, was the sweet and sour chicken balls. Everything else tbh, was sub par and not worth the money I was charged. Unfortunately I didn’t find out until I got home. And wasn’t driving an hour to return. Unfortunately with everything being so expensive these days. One would think that restaurants would go the extra mile to earn and keep customers with a food product that is prepared using fresh ingredients etc. Sadly I will never go back to this restaurant nor will I recommend. Definitely won’t be burnt...

The worst food of any kind I cannot believe the first time ordering food from a restaurant in over 3 years and large amount of money spent that the food could be so terrible. The food was either overcooked and dry or undercooked and no taste whatsoever. When my husband went to pickup food they said there was no order they couldn't find it after about 10 min they finally found our order. I wish now they never found our order and we walked out with nothing we would have been better off. I did not call right away because it was to late that night I did not call next day was enjoying day with family. Called next day after I threw out all the remainder of the food . I called and was told it was too late to do anything about it now. Well sorry closed after eating and I explained was with family next day did not want ruin another day. I like CK and it has been our go to for 10+ years. Always good food, and customer service both pick up and delivery. I also like that they added an online ordering service, which I have used twice now. The payment process when doing online ordering is horrible though, please address this! When I submitted my order it asks for payment method and details and gives you the impression you've paid. I received no confirmation telling me other wise. Delivery arrives and says they have to charge me. It took several attempts for the driver to match the bill and approximately 10 minutes for me to complete paying for it all while standing outside freezing while this got sorted out. Driver was friendly and apologetic, mentioning that this happens regularly.
