I use to love this place however today I had an issue with them and UberEats where I ended up losing my money and not receiving any food. UberEats said the restaurant added on an additional 15 dollars. Overcharged me, I contacted Uber via chat and Then the order was cancelled. I called Uber eats and they said they can't refund my money because the merchant started preparing the order. So I called the restaurant so I could just go pick it up, I was told by the employees they never started preparing my meal and to call UberEats for the refund. Uber called the restaurant and they told Uber they threw out the food, uber informed me they can't refund it because the merchant made the food and threw it out. I call again and they tell me they never told Uber that. So between Uber and Kino, they are scamming people out of their hard earned money. I have celebrated many birthdays here for multiple family members. I will never come here again because of how this was handled. If the food was made and you are being paid by Uber eats, why not allow me to come pick up the food myself? Whether Uber is lying or the restaurant is lying, I am the only one losing out. I didn't get the food for my son's birthday and I lost my money.
Edit: the restaurant did follow up and communicated with Uber to try and get them to issue a full refund. However, UberEats still has not given me the refund because they keep saying the restaurant said they made the food and threw it out and they need to pay...
Read moreHad an unpleasant experience today ~ first time in Barrie and wanted to try it here for dinner because of the good reviews. Upon entering, we see a busy floor with about 1 to 2 servers going about. One of the servers I was able to flag and ask if they have a table for 2, she acknowledged and said just give her a few. To be fair, they seemed understaffed and overworked because she looked exhausted and flustered juggling between calls, cleaning and delivery dispatch. I was standing there waiting with my wife for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. I was patiently waiting, then the second waitress approach us so I mentioned we are waiting for the table for 2. To my surprise, this one gave a different response saying “Sorry, as you can see we are jam packed and there’s no available table” roughly translated. Well, at this point there’s little than can be done. I have no problem with waiting, if she said we can wait for a few, or being told outright there’s no way we can dine for tonight since it’s fully booked. What really irks me is the sort of disregard with an almost 10 minutes wait that could have been avoided easily. At least, its some sort of blessing in disguise, and we ended up at nearby Baton Rouge where we had an awesome...
Read moreKino Sushi has quickly become one of my favorite places to unwind and enjoy my ultimate comfort food. It’s my go-to spot in Barrie when I’m craving something fresh, satisfying, and delicious. I always go for the dinner option, and without fail, I fall in love all over again with their salmon dishes—especially the sashimi and the spicy salmon roll. Everything tastes so fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor!
I’ve tried many sushi spots not just in Barrie but also in other countries, and Kino is truly top-notch. The consistency and quality keep me coming back once or twice a month since I moved here.
Also, I have to mention one standout staff member—a lovely lady who’s always friendly, accommodating, and full of energy. I wish I had caught her name! Her warm and attentive service really elevates the dining experience, especially compared to some of the other staff who can seem a bit grumpy (maybe just busy—but hey, a smile goes a long way!).
All in all, Kino Sushi is a gem. Great food, cozy vibe, and that one amazing staff member who always makes my visit extra enjoyable....
