My wife and I were heading home last week and were interested in grabbing a bite out. I have driven by Royal Paan outside of business hours and had a look at their menu on the store front and it was intriguing.
We decided to give it a try... WOW!! This place blew me away. We ordered: Paneer Kathi Roll. The order comes with two. Deliciously spiced paneer with veggies wrapped in a fresh, soft and warm kathi roll. The tamarind sauce and coriander chutney gave it all a nice finishing flavour. We both love good paneer and this was well worth it. Noodle burger. Big! Hakka Tiki burger topped with hakka chow mein noodles and szechuan sauce. Sounds funky but it was a winner. Somehow the combination wasn't soggy and really was tasty and satisfying. Dahi Bhallay. This dish is absolutely amazing! Served cold. Lentil fritters prepared with two cooking methods soaked in whipped yogurt with sweet tamarind sauce and spicy coriander chutney. I usually am not a big fan of cold dishes because they can lack flavour. Not this one! The best food I have ever tried has had layer after layer of different flavours and nuances in one bite. This dish does that... incredibly delicious!
The two young gentlemen that were working that night were enthusiatic, engaging and justifiably proud of what they prepared for us that night. I couldn't stop with my praise for what we tried. They offered us a Paan to try as we had never had one previously. Excellent after dinner item. Sweet, savoury and very unique. Many variations are available.
This restaurant is vegetarian. The items we had were outstanding. We didn't miss not having meat in the slightest.
I will become a regular here. I am looking forward to trying the other items on their menu.
Best new place I have tried in...
Read moreAbsolutely not recommended!! My friends and I visited last night, we were 4 people. We visited Barrie after 2 years and then decided to try royal paan after seeing the reviews.
We ordered almost half their menu as we were super hungry total came around $130 From soup to vada pav, to noodles and royal falooda. I am a big fan of indian food and I have tried desi food all around Canada and this Royal paan location is the worst of them all.
Food was absolutely tasteless and we literally didn't enjoy it and we had to return the soup and tea they served it was the worst. The only nice thing was the falooda.
When we went and told the cashier/manager that food was not tasting good, he said that our food is very tasty and you should see the reviews on google. Like seriously? That level of arrogancy? Made me feel the google reviews were fake lol
Yes, I did see the reviews and that's why I went there with my friends but I was greatly disappointed and...
Read moreAbsolutely worst experience. The guy handling customers seem to have serious attitude issues. I brought up the issue that some ingredient mentioned on the menu was missing from the food item we got, and his defensive response was "that's how it is", "we don't always put everything we mention on the menu". On top of that, their menu isn't very clear. It mentions "Kutchi Dabeli $8", so I ordered two thinking it's per dabeli, but got 4! because the price is actually per 2 pieces, but of course "I'm just supposed know that" as per the guy on the counter. On objecting about these discrepancies, the guy just went into a different attitude and tried to hand me 10 dollar bill, as if it was all about money, and they can never be at any fault. I don't think he knows how to act with customers. A very negative experience with this place. Wouldn't...
