Restaurant Boustan — Restaurant in Bedford

I have tried Boustan in Montreal previously and loved the food over there. The meat that they serve over there is freshly out of the grill and the freshness and quality as well as the quantity is huge.

Based on that was excited to try it here and unfortunately was disappointed. Had a junior box but the quantity was not adequate. I get the fact its a new venture for the owner here but having some trained staff from restaurant industry would be wiser. The person who served us could barely speak up loudly and clearly and the sauce drizzle and everything was so less in quantity. Maybe they are getting trained and are going to by the rules of focusing on the quantity but it felt they wouldn’t want to even put a drop extra

Also the fact we got mixed bowl and the beef was already cut and stored, whereas in montreal they would simply slice it directly from the grill, which made things succulent to eat.

Anyways, just like any other franchise, I feel when they come in halifax they loose that authenticity and lost my expectations and might not go back again as price vs quantity is...

Today we went to try out chicken shawarma as my friend he was in Montreal and he said it was very nice but we received a disappointment 😔 as the saj bread was very cold even chicken meat was cold 🥶 they didn't even care to heat it up and my friend confirmed that meat quantity was too less compared to Montreal ones almost 25 percent of Montreal ones shawarma when he shared his review as soon as we finished our meal lady who claims to be owner of the store was too quick to tell us that next time we will make sure all these things are not repeated as staff was still undergoing training 😡🤬😤😤😤😤😤 why did you open up store when you did not complete training 🤔 and we just paid for the sake of training someone 🙄 we both were looking at our faces she quickly went inside afterwards in order to avoid further comments don't waste time and money its not...

Update November 2025: I have been going back to Boustan a few times, and am happy to see how much they have improved since opening. The shawarma wraps are now big, filled with lots of tender, flavorful meat, and the potatoes are fresh and crispy. The staff are friendly and the portions are generous. We have become regulars and now it is one of our favorite spots in Halifax for shawarma. Highly recommended.

July 2025: Ordered the Thursday special (chicken wrap with potatoes), but got beef instead. The wrap was the smallest shawarma wrap I had in Halifax, poorly wrapped with a hole and tasted bland. The bowl was mostly hard rice, barely any salad, very little sauce and very small, barely half of what you would get with Osmow’s daily special. Not worth it.
