Beautiful patio, fresh and delicious food with kind service. I'm so glad this was my final stop at Bowen Island. This was a solo trip, and I left the car at home. I was hoping for warm, chill vibes and this was Doc Morgan's in a nutshell. After a day of hiking and exploring, this was the perfect spot to soaked in the outdoor ambiance of Bowen. Walk from the streetside between buildings to find yourself at Snug Cove. Steps from the ferry terminal, the location is wonderful. I ordered a glass of Simple Life Pinot Noir (USA), along with the Crispy Calamari and a side of fries. The calamari was crispy, tender and fresh. The fries were hot and seasoned well. With light tannins and black cherry flavour, the wine was wonderful. After I ordered, I overheard another table was offered a happy hour menu. This was my only disappointment. I wish I was offered that menu as well. I would certainly return, but I'd ask to see the happy hour menu if I was there in the afternoon.

Doc Morgan’s Pub is an absolute gem on Bowen Island! The seafood here is top-notch — the fish and chips are perfectly crispy, the crab legs and oysters are incredibly fresh, and the prawns are cooked to perfection. I was thrilled to find my favourite dessert, Eton Mess, on the menu, and it did not disappoint. On the top of that it’s been given us with no charge, because they didn’t have wine my husband ask for. The setting is just as impressive as the food — with a stunning view of the marina and a lovely outdoor terrace that makes you want to linger for hours. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients in every dish. This is the place to enjoy delicious food, a relaxed atmosphere, and unbeatable scenery. Highly recommended!

The foods and drinks were pretty good. The cocktail I got was Dark and Stormy, and it's without a doubt got my stamp of approval. However, I think the amount of ice in the drink was more than expected. To anyone who wishes to get a cocktail, my advice is to ask them to put less ice in the glass or just get rid of it so that you get more drink. There were two ladies serving my table, and both of them were nice and caring. Would definitely want to come back and dine in again!

Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service and lack of professionalism from the staff.

Their restaurant aesthetic was great and food was average at the most.

After giving them enough notice and waiting for 15 minutes for a table, they separated our group of 8 into two (there was a lot of room to easily combine tables, and there were other larger groups in the restaurant). We didn’t think much of it and happily seated ourselves and proceeded to order (which we also had to wait a while to do). After we finally ordered, they took 45 minutes to bring half of our food, although customers who came after us got their food earlier. But hey, benefit of doubt given, I mean it was a Saturday night after all.

The night went on and in over 2 hours, between our 2 tables, our water pitcher (that was used up shortly after we sat down) wasn’t refilled at all, we went through the entire dinner and we weren’t really checked on, we had to wait to try and get attention from our waitress anytime we needed anything or really just combine any basic requests we anticipated having i.e. asking for the menu and cross our fingers and hope we would actually get it.

Moreover, towards the end after asking for the bill, we waited for about 30 minutes. Our waitress was hustling and bustling around attending to the tables around us, barely acknowledging us. After that, she was nowhere to be seen, so my friend went to ask for the bill again at two different times to the other staff at the restaurant, very very politely might I add, even after their behaviour. They huffed and puffed and rolled their eyes and implied we were being impatient and insensitive. At this point the restaurant had mostly cleared out, we were forced to stay there for over 2 hours, much longer than we wanted to, we missed the Ferry we initially planned to take, customers who came after us were long gone. This is where we all clearly looked like we were starting to lose our patience and that they were going to be called out on their not-so-subtle racist behaviour. They seemed to pick up on that, and another worker there finally brought the bill and clearly started over-compensating by justifying why there were such significant delays (that only our 2 tables seemed to be experiencing).

So overall an extremely terrible experience. Very obviously racist staff, and after reading all the other negative reviews, this seems to be an ongoing thing. They clearly don’t know the power of tourist expenditures as well as the power of social media and the consequences it could have on their business. I am not one to typically write reviews, good or bad, but this could simply not be ignored. So if you do find yourself in Bowen Island, do yourself a favour and don’t risk ruining your trip by making...

If you are a single person travelling to Bowen for the day, you definitively will want to SKIP this place and take your business to somewhere where you will be more welcomed. I am a senior, who came to Bowen on a solo trip for the day as I’ve never been before. I went in when it wasn’t busy as the ferry rush was well over. I was treated in the most rude and unwelcoming way upon my arrival and told that they “don’t have tables for just one person.” When I queried about a few empty tables I saw, the terribly rude (older lady) hostess uttered a few rude words to me under her breath, reluctantly took me to one of the empty tables and literally threw the menu down. I tried to make polite conversation with her on the way to the table to lighten her up, which was completely ignored. She cast me a rude glance as if to say, “how dare you come into this restaurant alone and bring us less money?” when she left. I should’ve turned around right there, but I was hot and needed refreshment. Where is a single person supposed to go on Bowen Island? Is this restaurant not an option and only for groups or couples? I waved at the waitress to let her know I was there. She approached me with a very irritated look on her face and said “there were other people before you.” on her arrival ( No greeting, no welcome, no, how was your day… Nothing.) She then asked impatiently if I was ready to order (three times in a row!) while I was reading the menu and trying to give her my order. I felt so uncomfortable and so unwelcomed at this establishment as a senior lady. I don’t know if it was the colour of my skin, a senior lady, or that I was dining by myself, but it was the first time in two years of solo travel that I’ve ever been treated in such an unwelcoming and rude manner. I’m not sure if it was because they thought they make less money off of a single person? Who knows, but it was utterly shocking the way I was treated and it’s tainted my whole experience of Bowen Island. The older lady hostess and older lady server should be ashamed of themselves and management /owner should know that this is the way solo travellers are treated when they come to your...

This restaurant is hands down the worst I've ever experienced when it comes to customer service. The waitstaff was incredibly rude and showed clear signs of discrimination against people with different accents.

My friend and I went to this place with the simple intention of having some fries and beer. Since I have a fish allergy, we specifically chose this spot for their fries-only menu. However, the waiter didn't seem pleased with our order and left our table before we could even finish our sentence.

To make matters worse, our order took forever to arrive, and they didn't bother providing us with basic utensils, napkins, or even a glass of water. I had to resort to using my own tissues and water bottle.

When we tried to place a second order, despite the place not being crowded at all, we struggled for a good 20 minutes to get the waiter's attention. It was frustrating, to say the least.

And then came the cherry on top: when the bill was brought to our table, the waiter simply tossed it down without us asking for it. Given the terrible service we received, we decided not to leave a tip. But instead of understanding our dissatisfaction, the waiter had the audacity to mockingly criticize us for not leaving a tip. We were scolded for our choice.

As we were leaving, we overheard the waiter complaining about us to the manager. It was a stark contrast to the warm and welcoming atmosphere we encountered in other places on the island.

I'm left wondering why they expect a tip for such undeserving service. We consider it nothing short of theft. It could have been a different story if they had shown a genuine smile, provided decent service, delivered our orders in a timely manner, and refrained from presumptuously presenting the bill. That's how they could have...
