In terms of the quality of the food I recieved, it could only be described as transcending the limits of what is normally achievable in traditional French cafe cuisine. Each bite of Macaronz’s macarons blessed my tastebuds with a genuine but fleeting taste of divinity that I never could have fathomed until trying them. A slight firm yet crisp outer shell immediately gave way to a soft yet chewy meringue interior which was dyed in a variety of beautiful, vibrant colours so as to help customers distinguish between the shop’s many different flavours (ranging from timeless and classic to exotic and inspiring). This served to contrast the rich, velvety, and silky butter cream ganache interior which immediately coated my tongue with a perfectly balanced mixture of sweet and buttery flavours, accented by the distinct aromatic components that give each unique macaron their namesake flavour. Paired with these little parcels of petite indulgence was a pot of one of the shop’s many specially curated artisanal teas that served as a fragrant and soothing respite from the richness and stimulation of the macarons. The combination of the two were simply a yin and yang match-made-in-heaven that served to elevate the humble cafe experience to mythic proportions. As for the other items on Macaronz’ signature high tea menu, I can say with absolute veracity that each and every item was deliberately and painstakingly crafted to compliment the shop’s many teas, as well as each other.
All in all, I can say that my experience at Macaronz is the closest I have ever come to experiencing nirvana and that passing up this establishment during your visit to Brampton could very well be the biggest missed opportunity of...
Read moreWe went here for High Tea on a Saturday. It wasn’t too busy which was good, but even though it was around 1pm they didn’t have 3 teas that were listed on the menu. The teas we did choose were good, but nothing to write home about. The quiche and crostini were VERY good, as well as the scones and jam, so no complaints there. When it came to the macarons however, I was very disappointed. I took one bite of one and the middle was hard and chewy like taffy. It wasn’t even the filling that was hard it was the actual macaron itself. I left that one and took another and as soon as I bit into it, it crumbled and I saw a massive gap between the top of the shell and the filling. That’s when I stopped eating them but my friends continued. I didn’t say anything until I noticed the table beside me complain to the waitress about the exact same thing. I saw her leave and come back with new macarons, which were exactly the same in terms of having a huge gap in the middle. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered but this is a place that specifically makes macarons so why am I paying $36 for excellent quiche and scones but the macarons are the exact same quality as the ones I can get at Fortinos?? If you want a decent “high tea” experience it’s fine but if you want good quality macarons then spend a little more money at Nadège or Ladurée (or spend the same amount of money and get your macarons...
Read moreRather than meet at our usual spots in Brampton, a friend of mine recommended this place. I'm so glad she did! We went on a "customer appreciation day", when the macarons were at a discounted price. They have a huge selection of macarons and mini-donuts, which you notice as soon as you enter. There's also a small table and chairs just behind the door where I made myself comfortable before my friend arrived. I also browsed through one of their many books on display - in this case, one about the Impressionist painters. Very classy! When my friend arrived, we made ourselves comfortable in the adjoining room, beyond the front counter. It was extremely elegant and comfortable, and had the look of a parlour in someone's big house. There was also old school music playing (as in from the 1920s and 30s that I loved). But not too loudly - so many places now play music too loud. I ordered a coffee, as well as chocolate-caramel macarons and a similar tasting donut. The coffee and macarons were great but the donut was a little too sweet for my liking. But that won't stop me from coming back - we noticed this bakery also serves traditional high tea, so we'll definitely be back...
