I have to show some love to the locally driven chains that are about delivering healthy food and reasonable prices. Did I mention they taste good too?
I first heard of Trish Juice when it opened up in downtown Brampton. Now as most people know, downtown Brampton isnt easy to park or get to and unfortunately, I still havent popped over there. I got to try their 'middle of no where industrial zone' location and turns out that their homebase where they bring in all their fruits. I got to talk to one of the managers and learn more about them. They're really homegrown and about getting the right flavours. Now I see they're opening up in Oakville and getting more popular. I couldn't be happier for them... it's a great alternative to the sugary 'smoothies' or $$$$ cold press juices that are popping up.
The spot here in Oakville is just a small spot off of Lakeshore but it's clean and spacious enough to allow some groups to sit and chill while drinking up these good smoothies. They do offer more than a few drinks... they do salads, wraps, and acai bowls as well. So if you're looking for a healthy bite with a good smoothie to keep you going into the afternoon, great spot to check out.
Coco Green Smoothie - This smoothie is for anyone who wants an introduction to the green smoothies without feeling like their going eating a blended salad. This is a gentle toe dip into that space and it's an easy sip of sweet fruits that has you going 'mmmm'. Though it looks 'healthy' cause it has a vivid green shade, it's actually quite sweet. It does have spinach which makes it green BUT the flavours are really the mango, banana, orange, and coconut milk. When I drink this, I taste the banana and coconut the most with a bit of mango at the end. I don't even taste the spinach. I just know its in there cause the drink is green. I also love how this is so affordable. No added sugar and real fruit and vegs for $6. It would be so hard to find better 4/5
Cuban Smoothie - For those who want a tropical sweet burst on a hot sunny day, this one is definitely the one to try. It is pretty sweet since it has the addition of honey in it and the fruits are naturally sweet to start. They throw in pineapple, mango, orange, lemon, and then it's all blended with coconut milk and a hint of mint. When you sip this, you really taste the pineapple the strongest and then the citrus fruits. The hint of coconut comes in at the end. This is probably the easiest way for someone to change over from the terrible sugary mall smoothies. Yes there's added honey but you actually taste fruit in this one! Enjoyable if not a bit sweet for me. 4/5
Im cheering on the small guys to make it big and keep up their small store openings. I appreciate the humble spots that make delicious and affordable options to sip and savour. I'll...
Read moreUPDATE: So I decided to come here again to try their smoothies. I got a simple strawberry blueberry banana smoothie with coconut water. It was okay. Maybe at home I put more fruits in my smoothie or something, but it was super watery for a smoothie. For the smoothie itself I would give 3/5, but because of the cost (expensive) and the fact that I decided to try a wrap again from here which I did not finish due to the amount of sauce drenching it, I will stick to this rating. If anyone has anything they can actually recommend from this place let me know.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was pretty excited about a new juice place opening up in a convenient location downtown in Brampton. I juice myself at home, and to be able to have a healthy option outside of my house seemed like a dream to me. I ordered the carrot juice with a wrap for lunch. The carrot juice was not a "juice", it literally tasted like carrot shavings with ice in water. I couldn't finish it and had to throw it out despite hating to waste things. I like carrot, but carrot water is disgusting. The wrap was lacklustre in flavour and was expensive for the amount of meat you get in it. The vibe is so cool at the place, I was hoping it would be my new lunch spot. I spent so much money and felt incredibly ripped off at what I actually recieved. I might come back to try another drink, but I'll see if I want to give them...
Read moreIf you are looking for something healthy I’m sorry but this is not the place for you. Ordered a smoothie and a wrap because I always drive by and wanted to check it out. I ordered the green smoothie and the Trish special wrap. First off I want to say that I waited almost 20 minutes for a smoothie and a wrap because every time a skip the dish courier came in it seemed they were given priority. I should say that I was the only one in the store yet the girl behind the counter was making orders for who knows who. I watched as she added ingredients into my smoothie which looked fresh and good until she squirted fluorescent green syrup into my smoothie. I asked her where they syrup was listed on the menu and she told me that next time of I asked They could omit it. How would I know if it’s not listed. She didn’t even offer to make me another one without. The wrap consisting of mostly spinach and some other cheap vegetables was 6 bucks. I’m ok with paying 6 dollars so smoothies and wraps with worthwhile ingredients but not for Tim hortons quality! Don’t come here if you think you are getting something similar to Freshii it’s not. Might as well go to orange Julius at the mall.
Side note: I did feel bad for the girl because she...
