Naija Jollof Brampton — Restaurant in Brampton

A detailed account for anyone who cares about quality service & food. My 1st negative review. I’m completely disappointed and dissatisfied with the experience I encountered at the Brampton location. I had previously ordered twice via Uber eats from this Brampton location and had terrible experiences (incomplete order, tiny food) and wanted to come in person to the store as a final resort.

Myself and husband visited yesterday evening (Friday April 14,2023) around 7pm, and it was only 1 person cooking swallow, attending to customers at the counter and picking the phone calls. She was definitely exhausted but tried to do her best. We ordered puff puff, suya, jollof rice, moimoi, fish and had goat meat peppersoup to go. I ate the puff puff and suya and they were nice. My husband ate the jollof rice which was dry and rated 5/10. Moimoi was a disaster - grainy. We left it untouched after 1 bite. I wanted to order meat pie but it looked uncooked so I didn’t even bother. I took goat meat peppersoup home and eating it a day later, it was too oily, salty, filled with 80% shredded beef. I won’t be ordering from here anymore.

Lastly, I witnessed an experience I never thought was possible here in Canada. Towards the end of our dine in, a 2nd lady came to join the 1st lady and she seemed to be her “boss”. She complained about most things the 1st lady did. On this occasion, someone ordered beans and plantain, and a guy (unsure if he’s the customer / Uber driver) was waiting in store to collect the food. The 1st lady already served the food but when 2nd lady aka boss saw the food, she immediately took it from 1st lady, said the beans was too much and took out 1-2 serving spoons of beans right in front of the customer / person (non-nigerian) picking up the food. The man and I exchanged glances and he shook his head in disappointment. The action by the 2nd lady was completely irrelevant. The food was not too much and minutes before, I witnessed a previous customer (non-Nigerian) tell the 1st lady the food was extremely small for the price as she stomped out of the restaurant. I won’t be visiting this store anymore and I do hope the managers really do something about the food and service at the Brampton location because if this continues, it will negatively affect the...

I have patronized this establishment a few times and yesterday was my worst experience. The lackadaisical nature of the cashier/server who was on her phone and who I had to get her attention to be served ( she apologized afterwards) was a bit of a turn off buy I proceeded with the transaction. I ordered jollof with turkey which I've done before with no issues. This time around the initial server came from the back with my food and placed it on the counter, nothing was communicated as I waited and she just stood there. Afterwards, another woman came from the back asking if I'm getting through, I pointed to my initial server and said yes, she proceeded to take up the box of food, which I found out had just the jollof, and asked what meat kind I wanted, when I told her she went around the back and came back and added the sauce/gravy to it. I couldn't see what was in the box and I was in a rush so I paid and left. When I got home I was shocked to see a small piece of turkey on this mountain of rice! Apparently, I'm to savour the morsel given. I even had to take a picture and send to my Nigerian friend to get his input to which he sincerely apologized on their behalf. Today, I decided to call them and was hunged up on twice. So now I'll be patronizing another...

On the night of June 26, 2024, I traveled a short distance from my home to this restaurant. Usually, I would travel to downtown Brampton or to Malton via Mississauga for an African dish. So, I'm very pleased that the hours of operation are very wide.

At my arrival, I opened the door and walked in. A male associate warmly greeted me. I told him that I needed some help - a large tray of jollof rice for an upcoming wedding. Without hesitation, he went to the back to pass the message to the chefs. He informed me that it would take a while; but, I was determined to wait. Wisdom: I ordered the Wednesday special meal - meat with Jollof rice and a drink.

After waiting a long time, the level of patience had lowered. I appreciate that a chef apologized for the delay. After +60 minutes, my large tray was ready. As a gift, the team gave a medium size of meat for my patience.

Review: I traveled to MacTier, ON. The distance is two hours away from my home. I delivered the food and many persons, including the new groom and bride, enjoyed the food.
