Im Lebanese and this is the most authentic tasting and delicious shawarma I've had in Canada. Its pretty addicting. They have it down to a system that's pretty well functioning as well. I definitely recommend coming here in person. What I like to order is the legendary traditional chicken wrap with spicy garlic and hot sauce. The pomegranate molasses is the well needed secret ingredient that other places lack. The Saj bread here is also incredible and looking at the equipment (I think) its made fresh instore earlier on. Arguably, this is the only real shawarma in town, contrary to whatever your personal opinion is, everywhere else is pretty trash in quality and taste. This is the good stuff and where its at! If you're a bit more health conscious, I sometimes sub out the fries, and add-on charge for extra protein. I always finish my shawarma wanting another one but its high in calories so I always need to hold myself back haha. Traditional style is the best style. Also, the store is pretty well maintained. 11/10; its making my dad who quit eating shawarma here some years back, actually reconsider his choice when I ask him to bring me here for a bite. The wrap itself, not cut up, is the best item.
They do good 9/10 times on uber, but uber in itself is a trash service. I've seen people have issue with bowls, but they always share a picture of an already partially eaten, or just the corner of their bowl. In my opinion, they got shafted by uber service charges and fake ahh offers, paid 30$ for something with an instore menu price of 11-14$ and are mad they didn't get 30 bucks of meat. I myself wouldn't order a bowl because obviously, to fill it, the ratio of other items to proteins would be off, thats just how bowls are. You think whats in your bowl can fit in a shawarma? Obviously not. Come here in person, order a shawarma from the shawarma store for 11 bucks you won't regret it. People crying they spent 40 bucks is like telling on yourself that youre not the brightest.
Food and service here is amazing. Like I said, down...
Read moreMy first impression walking into Shelby’s was just okay. The space looked fine, and I decided to place my order using the kiosk at the front, which was convenient enough.
However, while waiting for my order, I couldn’t help but notice that the food prep staff were having loud, chatty conversations over customers’ open food. It made me quite uncomfortable the atmosphere felt unprofessional, almost like being in a loud meat market rather than a restaurant.
While I waited, another customer came in complaining about finding a hair in her food. The manager’s response was quite disappointing. Instead of showing genuine concern or offering a proper apology, the manager simply said they’d replace the food. The customer seemed upset and ended up asking for a refund instead, which she eventually received — but without any acknowledgment of her frustration.
When my own order was finally ready, I was hoping the food would make up for the poor experience. Unfortunately, it didn’t. The chicken tasted low quality, the sauce had a strange, almost burnt flavor, and it didn’t taste like a traditional shawarma at all. It had unexpected, Indian-like spice notes, which didn’t blend well. Overall, the wrap just didn’t taste good.
Between the poor service, unprofessional atmosphere, and disappointing food, I would not return...
Read moreTo be honest I was expecting more after reading the reviews and following Shawarma Man. I had the Chicken Shawarma wrap and there was absolutely no customer,/server correspondence whatsoever. No greeting and then you order at the machine because the 3 servers behind the counter paid no attention to my wife and I. It wasn't busy but it was a typical Thursday around 4pm dinner vibe. There was one other family seated and that was it. The server prepared the meal, called my number, left it on the counter and that was it. Absolutely no hello, no thanks for visiting no communication whatsoever. Food was average at best and there are better Shawarma places in Brampton or Mississauga that you can find.
Perhaps it was an off day for the servers and the weather had people in a not so friendly mood so I can give that a pass.
That being said I do t think I would return to the location or order from that restaurant again. The sad reality is though I wanted to like the service a s the food and walked away question g what all the...
