A friend of ours took us to He He's last night. One word- SUBLIME.
The food was incredible. Out of this world flavour profiles that just keep giving. A dish as simple as cabbage was given new light, turning a simple vegetable into an entire palatable course all by itself. The eggplant and potato dish was unfathomable. Our friend was talking about the potatoes for the rest of his evening, even through the football game... wow, eh. The portions are great and the food is not only tasty, but so beautiful to the eye. It's truly art on your plate, in your bowl. Now, the chef... what a guy! He was so welcoming, as was the rest of the staff. Chef came to our table to see how we were doing and to make sure we were happy, satisfied customers. You could see the passion and care behind his eyes when asking about our experience. Overall, this will be a go-to spot for the future. I don't want to tell anyone about it... because it's that good, and I want it to be our little hideaway. Although that being said, a restaurant this succulent, cannot go unseen.

Read moreRelatively busy restaurant given its obscure location. Service was what you’d expect from a lowkey Chinese restaurant, minimal but quick. Interior was clean and nicely decorated, it felt like I was walking into someone’s house. Food was a letdown.
BBQ lamb, 5 stars: Amazing! This was the highlight of the meal, very crispy, juicy, and nicely seasoned. Scallion pancakes, 2 stars: No seasoning so it was very bland and overly greasy. There were no dipping sauces provided so it just tasted like a plain crepe. Beef noodle soup, 1 star: Noodles were way overcooked. Broth had zero flavour and it tasted like beef flavoured water. Terrible. Shrimp fried rice, 1 star: By far, the worst fried rice I’ve had in my life. Rice was hard and had no seasoning whatsoever. No wok hei and it literally tasted like someone microwaved rice from a week ago and threw in a handful of frozen vegetable medley with some boiled shrimp.
Probably in the bottom 10% of meals I’ve had in my life and terrible value for what you get. Needless to say, I...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic experience at He He Restaurant—so much so that I went back a second time in the same week! Every dish we ordered was full of flavour and perfectly prepared: dumplings, cucumber salad, sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, beef stew, lamb skewers, and cauliflower—each one a standout.
This is authentic northern Chinese cuisine, not a watered-down or whitewashed menu. The flavours, textures, and presentation felt truly traditional and thoughtfully made.
The service was equally impressive. The young son of the owners went above and beyond to accommodate us, kindly fetching chairs instead of benches for my parents and making sure we had water and tea throughout the meal. He even held the door open for us without being asked. A truly welcoming and thoughtful touch that made the whole visit feel special.
If I had one small critique, it would be the fried rice—it was still good, but didn’t stand out quite as much as the rest of the incredible menu.
Highly recommended—this...
