Not sure what all these good reviews are about. It can't be the same restaurant.

  1. dark, dingy, felt like we were back in the "real world" when we left, ambience was dead - no music, chatter of other customers (of which there was only one other family) - it just felt and looked so dull
  2. owner is overbearing and made us uncomfortable during our meal (sat in a table behind us within eyeseat). We didn't like the way he treated an employee (shooed him with his hand) and we heard him comment on another family's tip.
  3. food is incredibly SUBPAR - oil doesn't compensate for flavour. My pancakes tasted like greasy fried cornbread dough, everything on our plate was very oily, we left feeling bloated but not satisfied, we could not finish our food and left most of it.
  4. cleanliness - random rag left on a neighbouring table, flies on the "salad bar"? We were never explained that that was meant for consumption. Our table's glass cover was cracked and had some tape to hold together the chipped corner.

THE ONLY POSITIVE is that this place has all day breakfast.

Please take your money and visit your local Sunset Grill. You'll pay roughly the same for a much...

Not vegetarian friendly and not a good experience. Our server was nice, however I found a piece of ham in the pancakes I ordered, as well a small piece of omelette stuck to the bottom of another one. Obviously this was a mistake and mistakes happen, but it turned me off of my meal. When I gave my feedback asking for the kitchen to be notified so that they can be more careful in cleaning their grills between orders, the response I received is the reason for the 1 star. A woman who I presume to be the manager or owner came over and said “oh sorry, it’s just a little piece of ham from the grill.” And when I told her I was a vegetarian she responded that they didn’t know that and the kitchen would have had to be told that I was a vegetarian.... for an order of pancakes. This implies that they aren’t in the habit of keeping their grills clean between orders, which is disconcerting. I’ve worked in restaurants for over a decade, so I recognize that mistakes happen, but the response that it is somehow my fault that there was ham in my pancakes because I didn’t notify them that I was a vegetarian is...

I would give this place 0 stars if I could, walked in with my fiancé to get some breakfast and there was no music playing, could hear everyone talking and it just felt awkward in there, after the waitress took our order and served us food she just ran, didn’t see her until we were basically done our food.. the place itself was very dirty and just wasn’t lively like a breakfast place should look. Sitting at the booth was very unpleasant as it was super uncomfortable, the salt shaker looked as if someone spilled coffee in it and nobody cared to look at it and change it out. Sausage was so big it wasn’t even a breakfast sausage, I found a hair stuck in my bacon and the French toast was Extremely bland, it tasted like they had watered down the eggs when cooking the French toast.. that wasn’t even the worst of it.. I went to the bathroom and it was filthy, I EVEN FOUND A ROACH!! I’m never going here again and I would never EVER recommend this place to anyone. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a...

Hadn't been here in a couple of years. Nothing has changed, same furnishing, same paint and carpet. Entered about 11:00 am on a Saturday. Hours of service on a piece of card stuck in the window clearly shows Tuesday thru Saturday Breakfast & Lunch served 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. The server told me I would have to wait as they didn't have Lunch items ready. My Turkey dinner finally arrived after I was on my 3rd cup of Coffee. Plenty of Turkey but Mashed Potatoes very small portion, Frozen Mixed Veg not hot. Finally went to pay at the cash desk. Took several minutes for the server to come to let me pay my bill. Service was "Surly and Not Friendly". A Gentleman who sat at a table across the eisle must have sat there foe a little over 5 minutes before being asked if he wanted a menu. IMHO This place has gone downhill in the last couple of years.

Pros: Family run restaurant. Good food, and good service overall. Good location with a lot of parking. Staff is really friendly. Cons: Restaurant is aged and looks very old and tired. Washroom could use some "attention ". Most food portions are decent but they "up charge " for normal things such as $1.00 extra for rye toast, or $2 extra for a few onions on a sandwich. Although this is not necessarily consistent among these types of places; staff should inform customers PRIOR to ordering so there are no surprises when paying. Also watch when food is being rung up from the menu pricing as staff wasn't aware of their own "specials" pricing. It's too bad that this place doesn't get a well needed face-lift to make it more attractive as it's been around for a very long time and well known to locals.

I called in a takeout order for some atypical things and they were very accommodating. I got a chicken breast with spinach and hollandaise, and 4 eggs over easy with sausage and bacon. It was great. I admit, the hollandaise was a bit thinner than I'm used to, but was still fairly rich. The sausages were GREAT, and the bacon was a nice balance between crispy and still having a bit of bite - I don't like bacon that just falls apart on a fork.
