For the price we pay on this food, the quantity of chutney we get here is very less. I ordered mysore bonda and mini tiffin meals. Bonda was very dry and hard. Wada was undercooked. The dosa was as thin as a paper. We get chutney like PRASADAM here. I feel this place is overpriced and over hyped. people living in Burlington have very less options of south Indian restaurants. and restaurants like AKSHAYA are making money out of this advantage. Better go to ANNALAXMI or DOSA TWIST.
REPLY FOR YOUR RESPONSE : Gave the chutney upon request coz the first time re fill seemed unfair. yes my partner gave the fair review. so you wont respond to 5 star reviews from 2 different people who come together. because it will get you good review. posting 1 star from 2 different people who come together will trigger your review. Hence this response from you.
the food quantity was extremely disappointing for sure and i should have mentioned that earlier. The portion size seemed like kids food. you came to us only ONCE and asked if the taste was good , because we were the first ones to order MLA pesarattu ( you said that to us yourself) and you wanted to know how it was. other than that nobody came and asked how the rest of the food was.
we did not post fake review. we posted what we felt. This is the second time we came for dine in. first time experience was bad as well. however we did not post the review. And the same thing happened again and we did posted the review.
What do you mean re filled upon request? one of your server has told us we get one refill for free. when we asked for refill she gave which was still very less. and one of them dint even know what are the specials of the day. when we asked for pesarattu, she told us you dont have it. when we told her that it was in todays menu, she went back and checked it. Make sure your staff knows what are the specials of the day.
Are you are aware that the quantity you serve for the price we pay is unfair? How come one of your old reviewers has also mentioned about the quantity of sambar you give? Instead of feeling bad about the negative reviews, try to focus on the quantity and better...
Read moreThis is hands down the best South Indian restaurant that I have tried in GTHA. The moment you enter you are welcomed by the simple and elegant decor. I liked that it wasn't overly kitschy like other Indian restaurants usually are.
The place was full when we went and we got the last available table. The woman taking the orders (I am assuming she was the owner) was multitasking so effortlessly. She was also the cashier and she also made sure everything was clean.
We ordered a lot of stuff off the well-designed menus. It is not a Michelin starred restaurant but every little detail has been so well thought off. I have never been this impressed at any other restaurant. I truly hope that they maintain this and the excellent food quality.
Speaking of food, we ordered quite an assortment. The onion rava dosa was perfectly crisp and tasted fantastic. The mini combo meal had the perfect amount of various items - the idli was soft, the vada held its own even after dunking in the sambar, the masala dosa was crisp and tasty, the pongal was perfect. The only thing that felt a bit off for me was the halwa but that might be just something I have not eaten in a South Indian place before. I would rather have liked it if it came with kesari. The mini meal was huge - a good portion size and even greater flavour. I haven't seen so much variety offered (3 types of rice, 2 veggies, chapati, raita, sweet, papad, pickle) without compromising on quality and/or quantity. We also ordered punugulu and more medhu vadas. Both came out perfectly crisp and tasted perfect. The variety of chutneys and the sambar which came with all of these dishes were bang on. We ended the meal with piping hot filter coffees.
The food took a while to come out but that was probably because of the restaurant being full and things being made to order. After the flavours we tasted, we did not mind the waiting at all. I am totally gaga about this place and I am already craving those flavours. I cannot wait to visit again and would highly recommend it to people looking for authentic South...
Read moreIt was my first time ordering. As soon as we entered we were welcomed by the smell of incense and spices even though the interior was cold and a work in progress. It was obvious the food would be authentic in their practice of South Indian cuisine.
We ordered the Masala Dosa, Idli Sambar, and the Vada for takeout. The food was outstandingly delicious and blew me away EVEN after hours sitting in the backseat of my car.
The food reheated perfectly and the Dosa did NOT go stale as the Uncle at the counter promised.
The portions of the Chutney and Sambar were more than generous for the price.
Idli was fluffy
Vada was crisp and had a proper soft interior and spiced adequately
Dosa was paper thin and was not overly oily and the filling was delicious
Sambar was hearty and was not watery by any means and perfectly spiced
Chutney was so delicious that you could eat it with a spoon (I did)
The menu is vast and there is lots to try and I can confidently expect the same quality and service from every dish they offer.
This resturant boasts “SOUTHENTIC” indian food and deserves that title and recognition from the burlington community
From all my south indian experiences this was by far the BEST one by all metrics that matter:
-TASTE -PRICE -FRESHNESS -PORTION -SATIETY -AMBIENICE
I have much faith in this resturant based on my first and hopefully continued experience eating here.
This resturant can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of who they are or where they came from or the diet they follow. Just give this resturant a couple months and It is fair to say that this will be more of a gem of South Indian Resturants once they further construct their dining area.
The people running this resturant put their heart and soul into the food and customer service. I am very excited to bring my family here to dine in despite the...
