Bon Bon Bakery — Restaurant in Burnaby

I just left Bon Bon Bakery Ltd. after being a customer there for over 40 years. Every birthday memory I have consists of a bonbon cake as a child. I went to pick up a cake and after they phoned discovered they had given me the wrong one. When I returned to the bakery to get the cake that I had actually ordered the baker came out from the back only to tell me that it was too late and I would have to take the other cake home. When I told him that this was not the cake I ordered and the girl at the front desk had made an error they all ganged up on me (front counter staff as well as managers) and told me that I was wrong and that I was a liar. The front desk girl told me that she had shown me the cake before she put it in the box which was an outright lie. I was looking at the cookies to decide which biscotti I wanted while she packaged up my whole cake put a string around it and sent me on my way. After I discovered that I had been given the wrong cake they made no effort to rectify the mistake or give me back the extra $10 that they had overcharged me. They continued to all argue that I was in the wrong. This was the WORST customer service I have ever received and this bakery relies on a reputation that was built many many years ago from different people. They should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treated one of their long-standing customers. I have never felt so disrespected in my life! The Valley Bakery makes amazing cakes and is a hop skip and jump away so needless to say I will never be buying from Bon Bon...

A friend brought over some pastries from Bon Bon the other day. While it wasn't the best I had ever had, it wasn't the worst either. And since I was in the neighborhood, I thought I'd pick up some.

So I came into the store during the afternoon. After looking at the pastries in the display case I finally decided on some eclairs. A woman wearing glasses came from the kitchen area to "greet" ( I use this very loosely) me. Her sternness quickly put me off, but I ignored that (hey maybe she was having a bad day) and proceeded to ask how much the eclairs were. The sound of my voice must have triggered something that it caused an annoyance on that sweet face of hers. I, being a man of good judgment, refrained from saying much despite this woman clearly wanting to test my patience. After she packed the box, I proceeded to pay, and it was at that moment when she slammed the visa machine on the counter I decided that I had had enough. I voiced my displeasure with the manner in which I was served. The shock on her face when I gave her a piece of my mind was priceless. She, in turn, had the audacity to say 'I gave you good customer service '. Well lady, if that was good customer service then I don't want to know what your bad customer service is!

So all in all, it was an unpleasant experience. The eclairs themselves weren't bad, but the lady behind the counter (owner?) ruined it. I won't be coming back any time soon, nor will I be recommending Bon...

This wasn't me, but I was waiting my turn when this woman in front of me had a bad experience. I thought I'd just post it in case she doesn't cause it was pretty bad.

But anyway, she apparently called in the morning to ask them to set aside a certain item for her. The person on the phone said to just come, no need to set it aside. So she leaves work early to get to the bakery before it closes and they don't have anymore of this thing she wanted. Obviously this is upsetting because she called, so she told the lady at the counter and this lady says she should have called. And the customer said again that she did call and was told it would be fine to just come in. And the counter lady? No remorse, like basically ignored her plight.

I know it's just cake or whatever, but that's some stone cold stuff right there. Sooo I gave a 1 star for service, but also their food is like whatever. I came for their biscotti because I bought it from the Cioffi (sp?) Butcher shop down the street and really liked it. But the tarts and cake a stuff is like, really ugly. I dunno about the taste. I was going to get something else to try it but nothing looked especially good, there's no signs saying what anything is, and I figured why give them any more money. I just wanted some biscotti sooo off I went...
