I have been coming to Belmont diner for 5 years now, I used to take my friends there when they were visiting, or after a night out. It was one of the first places I ever took my fiance when we started dating. I always loved the food and the diner, I never minded the wait, and the staff were always friendly. I didn't mind that it was expensive for breakfast either, because they made up for it in portion size. Unfortunately the last 3 times I have gone my meal has gotten progressively smaller and more expensive. I have always ordered the Calgary's choice omelette, it used to be a massive omelette, I ordered it with all the fillings, so 5 different meats, lots of your typical omlette veg and a huge portion of hash browns. My fiancee's family and I went recently and it was the final straw for me. When I first started coming the omelette was so big it took up most of the plate, they had trouble fitting everything on the plate and it came with 2 pieces of toast. I regularly had to take part of it home because it was so much food. 2 days ago when we went, I was extremely disappointed to see that for 18$ (it used to be cheaper but that point is irrelevant for this review) I got the meal that I had been getting for years except it was maybe 1/3 the size if not smaller. I found only one piece of chicken, and one small slice of smoked meat, 4 slices of sausage, and the other 2 meats that were supposed to be present were missing in action. Omelette veg was underwhelming and lacking. There was only one piece of toast as well. This falls in line with the last 2 visits before this one, except at least those visits provided me with 2 pieces of toast. To be honest it looked like a small plate from Denny's except it tasted good. The real kicker was when the people I was with ordered half orders of the same thing and theirs were almost the same size. Now I am not upset about the quality of the food, it was very tasty, much more tasty than the fast food burger I had to purchase after to be full, I am upset that they are charging 18$ for an omelette meal that should be about 8-9$ at any greasy spoon (without a half hour wait). As said before, I had no problem with the price when the portion fit the cost, actually it was one of my favorite meals, I would take that omelette over a steak of the same cost. Unfortunately I will not be returning. To sum my review up, I gave 2 stars because the staff are truely wonderful, the food is good quality and tasty. I reduced 3 stars because I feel like changing the portion size to less than half the size and continuing to charge 18$ for breakfast is outrageous. I waited until the 3rd time before drawing a line. Every place is going to have an off day but 3 times in a row is...

If you find yourself in Marda Loop and have a hankering for a good breakfast, you absolutely need to check out Belmont Diner. This place nails that classic diner vibe—think retro decor and cozy booths that make you feel right at home, just like those old diners we used to visit as kids.
Now, let’s talk about the food—it’s a solid five stars in my book. The menu is loaded with mouthwatering options, from fluffy pancakes to perfectly cooked eggs Benedict. I took a swing at their signature Barnyard Benny and Montreal smoked meat, and let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion. Fresh ingredients and just the right kick of spice made it unforgettable. Oh, and don’t skip the pancake special we tried—Raspberry Chocolate Truffle. It was a real treat! And the coffee? Absolutely top-notch, keeping our cups full and our spirits high, just like a good diner should.
What really stood out was the service. The staff is friendly and attentive, genuinely enjoying their work, which adds to the warm atmosphere. They made great recommendations and ensured I had everything I needed without hovering—just the right balance.
All in all, Belmont Diner is a must-visit for breakfast in Calgary. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to swing by—you won’t be disappointed! Trust me,...

You get the full diner experience at Belmont Diner. It has about 5 tables and 10 bar seats so definitely be prepared for a wait during peak times. We waited about 45 min at noon on a Sunday. They have hot coffee and heaters outside while you wait.
Service was great and the small staff was super friendly. They were working hard to get orders out and get people seated as quick as possible.
We started with milkshakes - apple pie and creamsicle. We both got size small and it was definitely a small portion for $7 but they were tasty and just enough to tie us over before getting our food.
We got the Calgary’s Choice Omelette and the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. We got the omelette with every single add in possible and it was one of the best omelettes we’ve every had. It was packed full of fresh veggies and lots of meat. The hash-browns weren’t the best we’ve had but not bad. They just needed more time to crisp on the flat top. The eggs Benny was to die for. It was one of the best eggs bennies I’ve ever had.
Overall it was a great meal. We’d love to come back to try more items...
