Chicken On The Way — Restaurant in Calgary

I am changing rating here. Today, I had the worst experience with the food and customer service here. Personally, I've always loved the food and found it to be the best. I wanted my parents, who were visiting, to try the food because it's always been great. However, when we opened the package, everything was overcooked. Knowing my parents, they would usually not complain and try to finish the food, not wanting to bother their children. However, I could tell from their expressions that they didn't like it. I brought it back and told the staff it wasn't good, but the lady told me, she knew already that quality of the fries and chicken wasn't good due to low-quality and small potatoes, as well as the chicken sitting for a long time. I was speechless and absolutely disappointed, because WHERE IS YOU QUALITY CHECK? WHY DID YOU EVEN SERVE THE BAD FOOD WHEN YOU KNEW THAT IT WAS SITTING THERE FOR A LONG TIME? I kindly explained that all I wanted was for my parents to taste the food. However, the lady said she would not replace the meal. I feel that she may be misunderstanding the situation. I don't want a refund, and I don't need the entire meal replaced. I simply wanted my parents to experience your fresh food, just even one single fried chicken and one batch of fresh fries. Is that too much to ask? I've been a loyal customer, but I'm disappointed and won't be recommending your restaurant to my friends and colleagues, and I WILL NOT COME BACK HERE....

Yummy yummy yummy..! I've been going here since 1987 and the only thing that's changed are the prices. The food is delicious and the prices great for the amount of food you get. They cook everything fresh, they even peel and cut their own fries right there. My favorite item is the Cornball deep fried balls with kernels of 🌽 golden brown and sweet mmmm. The chicken is always so hot and juicy, never greasy. Besides chicken,fries and cornballs, they sell fish'n chips,shrimp 🍤 and I believe that they still sell fresh uncooked whole chickens, but idk if that's an ongoing regular thing. You can purchase family meals, snack packs, single items, and all chicken if you want. The majority of the time it's busy with 4-6 people waiting in line to order or for their order, but I've never waited longer than 15 min and that's my time in line + order + pay + and receive my food. They've always been friendly and helpful and they know their stuff. They can answer anything about the food and suggest items and amounts for whatever you need. They staff seem happy to be there and enjoy what they're doing. This area is busy with traffic and pedestrians- and there's not a lot of parking especially during busy periods, but people are in and out so wait time for parking isn't long. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes fresh, simple fried chicken. My entire family loves chicken on the way, and I wish that they had more...

An absolute GEM... Chicken On The Way is a great little place. Its a secret that isn't such a secret serving "never been frozen Chicken" for as long as I can remember them opening their doors to the public. The Staff are hardworking friendly and efficient. They spend the time helping you order where necessary and communicate well if their cooking up some new fries if it will take a minute or two longer. The Larger iconic Chicken/Rooster (up for a debate... lol) statue that welcomes clients is a comforting site knowing that this establishment is still there servicing clients after all these years without fail. The food is tasty and great... love love the corn fritters. On that note... I just celebrated my birthday and stopped by to get a FREE Two Chicken snack pack that had fries and a Corn Fritter included. All I had to do was show my proof of Birthdate and BAM I received my bag of goodies! No need to register this or download that APP. No hassles or questionnaires... just a feeling of genuine appreciation that you were a client of theirs. I invite you to stop by... theres parking out front (personal parking lot) for clients to use for free. I like the Kensington location as its the "OG" for me. Thanks for reading...
