So my boyfriend and I have been going here since our first date almost 2 years ago. We have always enjoyed coming and all the food they have despite the way their food is handled, and left out. Today that all changed and I honestly do not know if I’m gonna recommend going back ever again for one of our dates, it makes me really sad because my mom was suposed to finally come with tonight but couldn’t. Hopefully if she ever does go she has a little better of an experience.

First and foremost I got fried rice and a few other things including steamed veggies, fruit, and spring rolls for my first plate. Usually I put sweet and sour pork or chicken on my rice to give it a sweet and sour sauce. I got SO EXCITED seeing they had a thing of this sweet and sour sauce out to put on whatever you please. As usual I put the sauce on my rice and spring rolls. LET ME TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I WAS IN THIS SAUCE.

First of all I’m pretty sure I can read and it was labeled sweet and sour sauce which was indeed incorrect or they simply do not know how to make it. It tasted like fish and sour. How is that sweet and sour sauce?

Knowing even though they clearly messed up with either labeling or straight up making the sauce, I’m gonna be charged if I don’t eat it! So I try to eat it and can’t make it to anything but the veggies on my plate and some of the fruit before I started to have extreme pain in my stomach. I went to the washroom for about 5 mins and can confirm that they indeed do not clean at least the female washroom.

I got out went up to the front to talk about options as it’s $30 something for each adult to eat and I ate BARELY $5 worth of food due to how their sauce made me feel.

The guy was extremely kind saying he would charge me as a kid because it was the first tiny plate I had and again I didn’t fuc**g touch it.

My boyfriend goes up to pay while I went outside trying not to throw up and the bill was still $60?

Told me I’d be charged as a kid which is $15 something. And didn’t even do it?

This place should honestly be looked at and at least held to the health and safety standards around food. It’s EMBARASSING they have so many bad reviews on google and anything you look at and none of these things change!!

FOOD IS LITERALLY COLD WHEN YOU GRAB IT HALF THE TIME. YOU CAN TELL ITS STALE AND BEEN OUT FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. it’s a buffet yes. The food is gonna be sitting out. But how do they not even have proper heating lamps to keep it out of the danger zone?

I’ve worked in kitchens and been educated in how restraints and any food establishments should run. And if any health inspector came in without them being aware or prepared I promise you this place would end up closing. Find a Diffrent buffer to go to. This place is a waste of money. And has such a high chance of getting you sick and still being expected to pay full price after being told you’d get a lowered child’s price 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really hope they read this as I’m going to call in as well and tell them pretty much all of this. Saying there is no reason they don’t have heat lamps that work. It feels like light bulbs to only see the food. And the price was told it...

The food was good but was quite disappointed with the incorrect labeling of things and with how dirty the tags were as well. I saw some pretty grubby looking dishes on the buffet line as well. It's unfortunate to be taking food items thinking they are one thing and not being able to eat them because they are not what you expect and if you get charged for leaving food on your plate, then it's kind of a scam! Biggest takeaway: The women's bathroom was absolutely FILTHY. Tons of dust and scummy spots on the walls, the feminine hygiene receptacle was filthy, and there were splatters of who knows what on the walls and floors of the stalls. It looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in weeks or likely longer. Being someone who has spent 10 years working in the food service industry and has been responsible for cleaning bathrooms in those jobs, I can tell that it's accumulated over an extended amount of time rather than me catching it one bad day that the toilet got dirty faster than usual. If it is being cleaned it's not as thorough as it should be for a food place and I am so grossed out by it. The soap dispenser on the counter was clearly intended for sanitizer dispensing in an environment that isn't constantly wet because the base of it is corroded and rusting all over the counter and probably harboring tons of bacteria if the state of the toilets is any indication of the level of cleaning that takes place in that bathroom. I suggest getting something that is easier to keep clean, with a smooth surface that is able to be properly sanitized during cleaning. Seriously so incredibly important to keep your bathrooms clean because that is the impression that the public experiences and it's reasonable to wonder how well things are cleaned BOH in the kitchen and in the actual FOH buffet where we are eating. Perhaps would be worth doing some training with your staff to ensure that this doesn't continue. In my jobs We were always required to clean at least once a day, checking the bathrooms every hour or so to make sure things are still ok with soap and toilet paper and then do a very thorough deep clean of all the walls, and harder to reach corners of stuff that get grubby probably about once a month My mom loves it here so next time she takes me out for lunch I will definitely be reporting this to AHS if I don't see improvement, I'm honestly so grossed out Im genuinely debating doing that now after reading so many reviews about getting food poisoning and the amount of old food that's sitting out of temperature for extended amounts of time and not following the rules for safe...

Buffet Yangtze Deserves a Big Zero Rating. Our group of Seniors’ visits to Yangtze Buffet in Calgary was disappointing due to multiple service-related issues, which had soured what should have been an enjoyable dining experience for our trip. We were charged $34.75 included GST and Gratitude for one senior supper. There were 50 of us and we dined there for two evenings. A total of 100 senior suppers. Food was of poor quality, being excessively laden with MSG, and generally unappealing. The servers were unfriendly and argumentative about serving drinks which the restaurant manager had promised to provide. As a buffet restaurant, it was also shocking to hear complaints from both the waitstaffs complained about how much food customers were eating—despite it is a Buffet Restaurant and no waste were being left on the plates. These compound with the service issues, which was a lack of attentiveness from the staff (The staff failed to clear dirty dishes from our tables throughout the meal, leaving all of us to handle the dirty dishes ourselves. A server was absent from the grill where beef steaks were served and we had to request for one). When the above standards were not met, it felt like a betrayal. The fact that this happened even when the restaurant was almost empty makes it all the more frustrating. It’s especially disheartening when management allows a service charge to be added despite these fundamental lapses in service quality. We made a polite complain to the management in the first evening. Since we had made reservations for two evenings, we felt that we would give the restaurant another chances the next day. Complains to management had not improve the matter, but resulting with a more hostile treatment from staffs the next day. It’s unfortunate that instead of making improvements, the management and staff reacted negatively to our concerns. A buffet restaurant should provide a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy their meals without being made to feel guilty for eating the food they paid for. Totally Disappointing! We vowed not to visit Yangtze Buffet in Calgary again and advise people to do deep research before...
