Ceili's Royal Oak — Restaurant in Calgary

I visited Ceilis on a Friday night with my family, a party of 5. I had not been to this location before.

They were somewhat busy, but we had quick service from a cheerful waitress named Shoni.

The menu was decent. I had hoped for a few more Irish dishes, as it seemed to be quite a cookie cutter pub menu. Still, we ordered a variety that included mini Yorkies, calimari, chicken pot pie, fish tacos, burgers and Philly cheese steak.

We also tried some Scottish ale, scotch whisky and craft beer.

Everyone enjoyed the food! The fries and chicken pot pie were quite salty, but tasty. Everything else hit the spot, no issues. It came out in a reasonable time, although the pot pie came out a few minutes later than the rest of our entrees.

Our waitress was helpful in deciding what to eat, was attentive and generally just very pleasant.

I used the mens bathroom and noticed it had an access panel under the urinals that seemed to be loose and had duct tape on it. I noted that as less than ideal visually, but otherwise the bathroom was clean.

I had hoped for a few special single malt Scotch whiskys, but from what I could see and the waitresses memory, blended scotch was the majority at the bar. I love smoky Islay Scotch, but we settled on a blend instead.

As per usual in 2022, food seemed about 10-15% more expensive than I thought fair.

Overall Ceilis was a nice place for our dinner that night. A few improvements to the menu and bar selection and bathroom may have yielded a 5 star review. We had a good time, and most likely will be back...

I’m a regular here and take friends to this establishment frequently. The staff have always been friendly and prompt. They have daily food happy hour from 3-6 and love the baby yorkies. Usually get a bowl of fries to share and it’s a huge amount for the price. Wings are very good too.Our new favourite is the beef dip which is on happy hour. I read another review raving about the beef dip and had to try it and glad that I did.The chicken sandwich on happy hour is also delicious.Wait staff told us that the beef is cooked fresh every morning. I like to sit on the patio which is heated. Thursdays we go for the flat bread special. Since I am sitting on their patio at least once a week, I thought it’s time to write a well deserved great review! I also want to say that there’s tons of parking. Maybe you won’t get parking right at the door but there’s a huge mostly empty lot at Wal Mart. I have never had to park in that lot but it’s a 3 minute walk. The above review was written a Few months ago and happy hour specials are not the same but the excellent food is. We had beef dips and the Thai chicken flatbread with a side steak and the steak was better than steak I got at the Keg today. Our waitress was really accommodating and everything was great. Back again with some friends and ordered the turkey sub. It was phenomenal with fresh baked turkey not sandwich meat. I love this place and honestly it’s the best restaurant...

Restaurant says they're open till 12:00 a.m. came in at 11:30 looking for one quick round before I went home was told by a manager and the bartender that they both had closed by 10:30 and held last call before that this is two and a half hours before your schedule closing time and aglc says you're allowed to serve till 2:00 patrons decide to come to your establishmentyou can make your own decision based on how many clientele and or staff members are still at your bar drinking to which I counted six including the bartender and manager was eight total people in the building and you couldn't serve one guest for 15 minutes I live in Royal oak and have for a long time and know that there are not a lot of places where anyone can go especially late night and me working in the industry when I get home I'd like to have one before I truly cash out for the night I think that it's shocking appalling and a little bit sad that you can't even cater to one more round as a manager I would promo around in that situation but that's neither here or there the next time you guys have an opportunity to pop into my bar I would love to have you you have my information and any staff member that wants to come down to my location I would love to serve you and serve you the right way thanks for having me not having me not sure if I really want to come back or we'll be back again from an industry standard...
