What a great experience I had today with Chester's!

I grew up in the N.E., but moved away to Red Deer about 20 years ago, and yet always find myself returning to try the food. I was down for the day to see my family, with my wife and kids, and we decided we wanted to feed everyone. I typed in best fried chicken in Calgary, and Chester's was what came up in the N.E.

I'm glad we did.

We got the #2 combo and I got extra strips. I went in the storefront, which is pretty lowkey and small, not much in terms of dine-in-- but I think that sort of adds to the charm. Working hurriedly in the back was Muhammad, an older gentlemen who I assume is the owner/manager. He was very friendly and we got speaking quite easily. He remembered my name, and called me by it. He also offered me some of the food he had for the special the next day, a chick pea in yogurt dish that I was happy to add to the order. I was very pleased with the experience and shook his hand afterwards, promising to leave a review.

Well, here it is: perfectly fried, juicy chicken, some of the best I've ever had. breaded, big crispy fries, delicious. You almost need to open the box in your car to prevent them getting soggy, its a shame to lose that crisp. The chicken strips and wings were breaded but not over breaded, just right. I thought the strips would be a little bit bigger, but I also ordered 6 extra just in case, and they were worth it either way, very fresh and genuine tasting, definitely not frozen. The gravy was awesome, salty and dark and rich. Overall I would say that the meal and the service were perfect. The restaurant could use a little work, but Muhammad seems busy enough focusing on the important stuff- the food.

Makes me proud to come from the N.E. that such care is put into a service many take for granted. Will definitely be coming back to...

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience at Chesters, it did not live up to the great reviews. I went in on Father's Day June 18/18 around 5:30pm. I understand that is was busy and could take awhile. I stood in line for 10 mins before my order was taken. When it was time to order the man running the till had no idea what he was doing! I had to ask him if he wanted to know which sides I wanted with my order. He then just tried to tell me he was giving me macaroni salad as they were out of potato, I agreed and he told me there was a 30 min wait. I went and waited in my vehicle and came back in to pick up my order. Nothing was even ready! I had to stand there and read out my order to him again, he then packed it and handed it to me. They were out of chicken wings and strips so he provided me with extra chicken pieces which was fine, except my order was still missing half the things I paid for! I asked where my biscuits (included in package) and pieces of fish were. He then told me they were also out of biscuits and now to wait again for the fish. I said he should have told me they were out of half the items on the menu because I wouldn't have bothered ordering in the first place. He then proceeded to tell me he will give me samosas instead. I didn't come there for samosas, I came for chicken and biscuits, he also offered to return my $2.00 but I declined. I was given a piece of fish when it eventually came out and the rest of my food was cold. 1 hour later when I finally got home, I opened up the boxes to cold food, and sides I didn't request for. No impressed with Chesters chicken, and will not...

Chester's (Rundle location) reached out and invited me over to try out their menu. What I found at the Chester's Rundle Location was an owner that really cares about the quality of food they sell 🎉.

They freshly cook all their orders 🙌🏽 (which results in a bit of a wait, but also amazingly fresh and delicious food!), and are quite busy, so make sure to order ahead!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱: 🍗 ꜰʀɪᴇᴅ ᴄʜɪᴄᴋᴇɴ ᴘɪᴇᴄᴇꜱ ᴡ. ᴡᴇᴅɢᴇꜱ: The chicken was literally right out of the fryer! It was so fresh, hot and crispy, we seriously devoured it in minutes. I was also very surprised with the wedges. They coat them in batter and they're just as crispy as the chicken but delightly soft on the inside!

🍟 ᴘᴏᴜᴛɪɴᴇ: Hot, cheesy, full of gravy, like what more could you want?!?! I loved that their poutine wasn't overly salty, and how much cheese they put!

🐟 ꜰɪꜱʜ & ᴄʜɪᴘꜱ: We tried the fish and chips, and like the chicken it was fresh out of the fryer. It was hot and crispy! Also, the batter didn't over power the fish at all. With every bite of fish, there was an equal amount of delicious batter which I appreciated!

Overall, I really enjoyed Chester's - Rundle Location and 𝗜 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝘁. The owner really cares about the quality of the food they serve and you can taste it!
