Cowboys Taphouse — Restaurant in Calgary

Had the steak sandwich special which is great value, the cut is tender and the kitchen gets the doneness right.

The draft is poor and tastes a bit sour with very little head on served pints. Lines need to be cleaned or replaced, it's not chilled enough and possibly the mugs aren't "beer" clean.

Service is average, but I'm not going to completely blame the staff. The owner/management need to train everyone consistently. Clients need to be greeted or acknowledged in about a min, introduce themselves by name, go over the daily specials and then check if the meal is in order after seeing it sampled.

Stopped in last night to catch the Oilers game and had a much better experience. I had just sat down and the doorman asked if I had been greeted yet, I replied that I had and he went and let my server know. I ordered a few pints with wings since they were on special, the Stella's had a proper head and the wings came out fast and were tasty.

Usually it's a good time, this time not so much. My table put in a drink order, took forever to get the drinks, asked for a food menu, didn't get a food menu until we've been there for 1 hour. Our server left (turns out shes still here?) and we got reassigned a new server, 15 min later she came over to take our food order. It was so bad the bouncer came over and asked what was going on, because he saw us sitting with a menu for over 30 min. Our new server seems okay, we'll see how it goes. At leats the bouncer/security guy is pretty great. We were told it was our original servers first day back, and she was having a hard day, but they could of given us a decent server from the beggining. Two drinks in and no food so far. Zero stars for food as we have yet to get any, 1 star for service, because eventually someone noticed us. I would make a proper complaint, but tye original server never did introduce herself, so I have no idea who she is.

There is a server here that has absolutely no idea what she’s doing. It took her about half an hour to get our drink orders, when she said that she would “be right back”. It was an hour when someone came over and asked if anybody had gotten our food orders, which she hadn’t, and we never saw her again and someone had to take over for her. The organization of the people working at this establishment is lacking and it shows. If you want your food an hour and a half later than you want it, then this is the place for you. I would make a formal complaint about our original server, but she never even told us her name. The security guard is pretty great though! This place has been good to me before, but I feel like this this crosses a line. The only thing keeping this review from one star, is the fact that I’ve been here before, and the security guard.
