We order the following dishes. Chicken biryani, BBQ platter, chicken makhani, Palak ghost, mutton curry, garlic Naan, sesame Naan with pops. Now I will come to the taste. 1) Chicken biryani tasted like boiled rice with coloring. The chicken pieces were cooked properly, but the biryani itself had no taste. They had to work on the taste. 2) BBQ platter was OK. The chicken pcs in the platter were well done but needed more spices. The kabab was also well done, and there no issues of rawness but again lacked spice. Fish was also done nicely but tasted bland. Overall the presentation was nice but have to improve the taste. 3) Chicken makahni needs more taste as the texture was good, but the taste was like they used ready-made curry mixtures. 4) palak ghost flavor was not there, meat was very tender but needed the actual taste. 5) Mutton curry, the meat was very tender but again tasted like pre-made mixtures used. 6) garlic Naan and the sesame Naan were amazing and good taste They have to improve the taste. I think they changed the chef, and he has to do some menu samples and share with staff to take thier feed back and make it tasty. They will make permanent customers if they work on taste as the ambiance and service was good and prompt

This establishment is underrated immensely. It is damn good. MashAllah!! I have personally tried the Afghani Tikka which melted in our mouths. Furthermore, the chicken biryani was really well made also, the only thing I would change is add more salt to it. However, my wife told me the raita/spicy yoghurt they give with it, when eaten together it solves the salt point. So there's that. I also tried their lunch special wherein I tried the Beef Shish Kebab, which was phenomenal, instead of rice, I got another naan, and then proceeded to make a naan kabab roll out of it with the salad and the raita/yoghurt as a sauce. SO GOOD MASHALLAH. One lunch special is good for two people to say the least, very fulfilling and top notch taste. They serve hand slaughtered halal meat/chicken here, which I confirmed on the phone and in person with the person behind the counter. The kababs are made on a sizzling plate fresh, which adds to the aroma and they come in piping hot. They are sat on a bed of caramelized onions. so so so worth it. Next time, I visit Calgary this is my go to place for at the least lunch. Please do come here and try it out, you will thank me. =]

Horrible experience! I wish there was a way to give no stars at all. This used to my go-to place for kababs but they not only lost my business but all respect. We grabbed a takeout on Sunday, my partner found a big piece of glass while eating one of the 4 beef kababs at home on Tuesday. I called the restaurant to notify them. I didn’t ask for any refund which was $23 and some change, wasn’t upset but needed them to be aware. The answer I got was “You bought on Sunday, why are you telling us on Tuesday.” “it’s not possible for a piece of glass to be in our kababs and I can send you a video of how our kababs are made.” That was their response!!! Really now??? It’s not the response I had expected. Nevertheless, all I wanted was an apology and for them to say they would look into addressing it so it doesn’t happen again to anyone else but instead they ignored my messages after I sent the picture of the piece of glass. It’s a human error and I understand that, but they don’t! I will never go back to this or any of their other restaurants.

I’ve gone here a few times, and I really like their food. Today we ordered mutton curry and butter chicken. The butter chicken was only 4 pieces of chicken, about the size of chicken nuggets. Last time, we split the dish between 4 adults and my 3 year old son. This time, my son and wife each had one morsel, and I had two. It really seemed like about 1/3-1/2 the size of last time. The rest of the shallow dish was very runny sauce. Very disappointed.

When the mutton curry showed up, but was chicken instead of mutton.. so we sent it back and got to wait another 15 minutes. Both dishes didn’t come with rice, so I ordered mutton biryani, because plain rice was FOUR DOLLARS!! So I decided to make it an actual dish for $10… all the food tasted good, but the order screw-up, the shockingly small portion sizes, and the $4 plain rice was all a big turn-off. Won’t be returning again.

Btw, as we waited to pay, we saw another table get their food served. They also ordered the mutton curry, but their dish was HEAPING with mutton. It was enough for three VERY generous plates of food. Maybe you’ll get treated better here if you’re the right race/religion. This area is very predominantly brown/Muslim. I’m white. I took another look around at other tables and seemed to notice everyone’s portion sizes to be significantly larger than mine. Maybe they ordered 1.5 servings or a double serving? But it was in one dish, not two. It seemed too significant of a portion size difference to be an accident.

PS: my friend enthusiastically introduced us to this restaurant because he went a couple years ago and the portion sizes were big and dishes were inexpensive. He was shocked at the total, when we ate there together for my first time. It was roughly double what he was guessing, based on...

I have been a loyal customer for the past decade at this restaurant, I come to Calgary once in awhile from Edmonton, and have always eaten here. Except for today, today I called 30 minutes in advance to book for a reservation like I usually do, but this time I was told that upstairs was full and wouldn’t be available, so I asked if I could be next for reservation, but the lady on the phone said I can’t get the reservation, as she doesn’t know when the people upstairs would be done, and that she can’t make the reservation as it is “First come, First Serve” I thought I’d just go there as I might be able to wait out the amount of time for the people upstairs to finish up. When I got there the restaurant was dead, there was nobody eating upstairs or downstairs, I needed the room upstairs as I have a party of 9. When I arrived there, I asked for a table upstairs as I have 9 people, and the lady said it was reserved at 7, so I asked if it was the whole area upstairs, and the lady rudely said yeah, all of upstairs, and then offered me to sit downstairs on a table that would be meant for 5 people. I politely declined, and said I’d go elsewhere. I ended up going to Mehfil Curry & Kebab where I was treated with the utmost respect and got the best service there. It is unfortunate that what was such a good restaurant at one time has come to this with such rude and...

Food was fine. But the service was the absolute worst service I've ever experienced in my life (for reference, I'm a 53-year-old woman). We were greeted by a surly waitress who took our order and promptly forgot to bring us water and our drinks. Food came (and we ordered a lot), water was requested again as were the drinks. Water came, no drinks. Had to request again. Ordered more food, more drinks, food came, drinks did not. Meanwhile, the dishes we had finished were left for us on the table to manoeuver as best we could with the new dishes coming. We finally requested our drinks again and they grudgingly gave them to us. No one cleared our empty plates or dishes the entire time we were there. No dessert offered. But the crowning moment was when we were asked to "tone it down" because we had all burst out laughing together. Worst was, there was no one else in the restaurant! And it's not like we were shrieking...we just happened to laugh all together (four people). However earlier a man and his wife came in to pick up their order and the man was ranting and shouting the whole time because he was angry about the current Sikh/Indian tensions and thought the owners of the restaurant were on the opposing side of his belief about the whole issue. No one told HIM...
