Updated post I change my mind and now give this place 1 star instead of 3 stars. On opening day they gave us a large bowl of wonton noodles for the price of a regular bowl. After going there a second time, the size of a regular bowl of noodles is drastically smaller and does not justify the price. We ordered a Singapore fried noodle and the flavor just wasn't there, plus the are very frugal with toppings (one piece of egg, shrimp cut into smaller pieces to make it look like there was lots but really only was 3-4 shrimps at most). We tried the HK style milk tea and there was no tea flavor at all, just tasted like condensed milk. Service was still bad and still no BBQ meats. Very disappointed.
Original post I went there on the opening day and they did not leave a good impression on me. The food was ok, hence the 3 stars. The staff was disorganized and lost. The server took our order and came back twice to ask if she took down the order correctly. The servers also took food from table to table asking customers if it was a dish they had ordered. I over heard a server give a customer a bowl of wonton and bbq pork noodles, the customer said he only ordered wonton noodles. The server told him to take the dish and she won't charge him extra for the BBQ pork. REALLY!! Made me wonder if it was someone else's dish.
So, considering this is a BBQ cafe, I expected BBQ pork, roast pork, etc. They had nothing at the BBQ enclosure, empty. The owner told customers that the BBQ chef is not ready yet. Highly questionable if they are ready for anything.
One complaint, I was given a chipped ceramic spoon. Almost cut my lip but they changed it out with a dirty spoon, then they finally got it right with the 3rd spoon. My first thought was, I hope they throw that spoon out, but i saw the server throw it in the dishwash pile.
I think I will give it one more try as I am curious how good they Bbq...
Read moreCame here for the first time yesterday for afternoon tea menu which supposed to end at 5:00pm. We arrived at 4:45pm at the door. The female server/boss saw me at cashier and said nothing and just pointed to the empty tables. We helped ourselves to the table with menu already there. We waited for 5 minutes and no server came to our table. There was only 3-4 tables at the time. I tried to wave to another server but she was busy taking orders from the table behind me. At 4:56pm or so, the server at the cashier came to our table and speak in rude manner said we are no longer can order 'afternoon tea menu'. She acknowledge the time was 4:57pm. She said the kitchen chef would yell at her if she let us order. She also said the system won't take the order. I guess anyone know these are excuses. I told her the table behind me was ordering the same afternoon tea menu. And she shocked out loud to the other server and everyone that the afternoon tea menu is over. The whole encounter gave us the impression that this place is not welcoming. Her attitude was very rude and disrespectful. If you don't want anyone to order the tea menu at lower price, why would you put it out in the first place. Or why wouldn't you end the time earlier? At the end, we decided to leave. I don't think any customer should be a punching bag and take these kind of attitudes. No matter how good...
Read moreWe moved my daughter to Calgary on August 7! Our plan was to stay there for a week and help her clean and set up her apt. The next day we were thinking about Chinese food for supper! One of her friends who lives in Calgary suggested we try this restaurant! We walked in and we were greeted by the hostess/server who was very friendly! We were seated and ice waters, a beverage menu and food menus were promptly brought to us! ☺️ The server came back took our drink order and was back before we knew it with them. We had some questions about some of the items on the menu and she was very helpful! We orderd Pineapple sweet and sour pork, Shanghai chow mein, honey garlic beef short ribs, Peking style pork, fried rice and hot and sour soup! The food came out quickly despite the fact it was quite busy for a Tuesday night! It was hot and delicious! The meat was so tender, hot and sour soup was hands down the best I ever had and not too spicy! The pineapple sweet and sour pork and the Peking style pork are some of the best Asian meat dishes I’ve ever tried! Portions were also big! Took a fair bit home for the next couple days! While eating the owner came around and asked how everything was which we found to be very nice! All in all 10/10! We went back home but my daughter now lives there and will tell all her friends and this will definitely be one of her favourite...
