Fatima Karahi Restaurant & Banquet Hall — Restaurant in Calgary

Let this review be your warning against the most inconsiderate restaurant I have ever been to in Calgary. How this place hasn't been shut down yet is beyond me but it's just a matter of time at this point as their business seems to be hitting rock bottom (as it should).

First of all, I was lied to on the phone about there being 17 dishes in their iftar buffet — in reality, they had almost NOTHING prepared to serve AT IFTAR TIME; zero naan, zero rice, next to no curries, and some stale fried food that might as well kill your appetite. It's absolutely disgusting to not have any food prepared on time when people are paying you to break their fast here but then to not even acknowledge it? What's even more disgusting is their plates that were all barely washed and covered in DIRT.

All they had was some curry pretending to be butter chicken, the most mediocre chicken karhai, hard as a rock and inedible mutton karhai, cold chicken biryani, MSG paapri chaat with no paapri, burnt samosas, watery daal maash, and fish pakoray (the only decent thing worth eating if they actually bothered making some). Almost everything tasted bad but the funniest part of all is that MOST DISHES WERE EMPTY THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BUFFET. In fact, they even closed it all up and took everything away barely one hour after iftar began.

To top off this horrendous food experience, we have some of the worst customer service I've ever witnessed. Not only do the servers have no interest in helping out and seem miserable working here, they will be rude to you for no reason at all. The woman at the cashier slammed her register open and threw money at my brother when he questioned why we were overcharged, as if we did something wrong?! They don't deserve anyone's money with such a lack of respect and care. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that their washrooms both look and smell like a dumpster fire? Because that right there is a health and safety hazard, if the potential food poisoning already isn't.

Not a single soul should consider stepping foot into this joke of an establishment anymore. I can't believe there was once a time I gave them 5 stars because today's $27 was one of the worst financial decisions I've made in a while.

To the owners, I seriously hope you guys read this and all the hundreds of other bad reviews so you can start re-evaluating why you opened this restaurant in the first place. At least show your paying...

Extremely dissapointed at the service and quality of food that was served at a recent event I attended. Not only was the food late, but it gave the majority of attendees food poisoning. This establishment claims that the personal food (appetizers) we brought gave everyone food poisoning, but I know several people who ate the appetizers and NONE of the meat dishes (goat karahi, fish tikka, chicken, beef kebab) who are completely fine. Everyone who had the meat experiences several stomach pains and diarrhea less than 12 hours following the arrival of the food, which was very late. This indicates to me that there was something wrong with the meat dishes, and I personally suspect it was the goat karahi or beef kebab.

In addition to all this, this establishment does not claim responsibility for their actions. They told the organizer of this event that the food was late because "there were no tables set up for main course" which is a complete lie, I was in attendance the whole time and there were 3-4 tables set up for all the food. Were not idiots, this isn't our first event, we know that tables are needed to serve food. ON TOP of the ability to avoid the blame, they also did not take responsibility for the sub-par food that eventually led to over 50 people getting food poisoning.

Don't eat here, and I wouldn't recommend that you cater from here either, unless you want your guests to stay sitting on the toilet multiple times the next day. I hope the owner sharpens up and takes responsibility, it's the least he could do. I've also learned that this owner is new as of a month ago, which could explain why he's trying...

We catered from Fatima Karahi Corner for an wedding event and had an absolutely terrible experience.

They delivered the food 2 HOURS late and constantly told us that they were “5 mins away” for the entire 2 hours of the delay. We had hungry and disappointed guests.

The food gave 50+ guests food poisoning who were left with terrible stomach aches and diarrhea after the event.

They refused to take ownership for the delay OR the food poisoning and are now getting family members of theirs to leave positive reviews (we know the family and their relatives), responding to our reviews saying that our other event sweets were the reason for the food poisoning.

Everyone from the restaurant was rude, disrespectful and were very demeaning when we confronted them about the delay and food quality.

PLEASE DO NOT cater or eat from here. We’ve been regretting our decision to cater from them ever since.
