The food here is absolutely delicious; Sarah at the front, and the owners/chefs are lovely, personable, and down to earth; and the service is fast and fantastic! So far, we have tried the Vegetable Jalfrezi, Okra (Bhindi) Masala, Garlic Naan, mixed veg. Pulao (rice), Mango Lassi, and Hakka Noodles with chicken. We haven't tried any of the other meat dishes yet because we had meat cooking at home the first time, but we're looking forward to trying them as what we've already had has been so tasty! The portions are larger than I expected and they stay hot for a long time. I can tell you my husband literally took the vegetable dishes away from me because I wouldn't stop eating them, and I didn't take any pictures because I couldn't wait...They do have a few tables for dine-in, and they also have two high chairs. They are so welcoming whether you're there to pick up food or dine in. I got stuck inside due to the rain (after ordering take out the second time) and they offered me chai tea, which was so thoughtful and kind, delicious and soothing. I would highly recommend trying them out and tasting for yourself. We will definitely be back again to try...
Read moreI recently dined at Indian Spoon(Southwest), and it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with rich, vibrant colors and the perfect mood for an Indian feast.
The menu offered a great variety of dishes, from classic curries to tandoori specialties. We started with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavorful spiced potatoes and peas inside. The butter chicken was creamy and rich, with just the right amount of spice, while the lamb vindaloo was bold and aromatic—definitely for those who like a little heat. The naan was soft and pillowy, and the biryani had a fragrant, layered flavor that complemented the dishes wonderfully.
The service was exceptional. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and they were happy to offer recommendations. I also appreciated that they were willing to adjust the spice levels to our preferences.
Overall, the food was flavorful, authentic, and expertly prepared. I will definitely be returning to Indian Spoon for my next Indian...
Read moreI love Indian food and have eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants in Ontario, in England, and in Calgary. Without a doubt the newly-opened Indian Spoon ranks as one of the very best. The food is beyond delicious, the service is excellent, my only criticism is that it is very small and only has 3 large tables (at which 6 or 7 could sit). But this is a minor complaint more than offset by the consistently excellent quality and fabulous flavours of the food. The menu is quite large but not overwhelming and includes most of the dishes one would expect in an Indian restaurant as well as some not so commonly found: for example the Szechuan noodles that can be served with chicken or prawns or vegetables. These noodles are actually one of my favorite dishes and at $15.99 (chicken) for a serving that would feed 3 people, an amazingly good deal. Definitely worth a visit no matter which part of Calgary you...
