Update on my previous review â I really appreciate the quick and thoughtful response from the team at Indian Tavern. Within 24 hours, they acknowledged the issue and delivered the correct order to my place, free of charge, without me even asking for a refund or replacement.
The food was fresh, well-prepared, and absolutely delicious. This level of customer service truly stands out. A big thank you to Param for understanding the situation and ensuring it was handled so kindly and professionally. Mistakes can happen, but the way this was resolved has restored my trust in the restaurant.
(Weâve been loyal customers of Indian Tavern for over two years, usually dining in and enjoying the food. However, our recent experiences â especially with takeout â have been very disappointing.
This time, I ordered dal rice and pudina paneer tikka for takeout. Unfortunately, instead of the paneer tikka, we were given naan. Since the bag was stapled shut, I couldnât check the contents at pickup. When I got home and noticed the issue, I immediately called the restaurant. Rather than offering a refund or delivery, they asked us to return to pick it up.
When we went back, the order still wasnât ready â we had to wait again. Eventually, we received the pudina paneer tikka, but it was clearly undercooked and not prepared properly. The whole experience felt rushed and poorly handled.
Param, who was handling things that day, has always been very polite and welcoming. She seems to genuinely care about customers and was visibly disappointed with how the situation was managed by the rest of the staff. We appreciate her efforts, but the service and kitchen coordination overall were lacking.
Also worth mentioning â during a previous visit (when Param wasnât there), we had ordered our usual samosa chaat. It wasnât fresh at all. When my friend gave feedback, it was ignored and no action was taken.
Itâs disheartening to see the quality and consistency decline at a place weâve supported for so long. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements and sadly, itâs made us reconsider...
Read morein Calgary, Indian Tavern is a must-visit! From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The menu offers an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes, each bursting with authentic Indian flavors. We started with the vegetable samosas, which were perfectly crispy and filled with a flavorful potato and pea mixture. The paneer tikka was a standoutâgrilled to perfection with a smoky, spicy marinade.
For mains, the dal makhani was rich and creamy, simmered to perfection with just the right balance of spices. The palak paneer was another highlight, featuring soft paneer cubes in a velvety spinach gravy. The chana masala was incredibly flavorful, with tender chickpeas in a deliciously spiced tomato-based sauce.
Pairing these dishes with their fresh garlic naan and fluffy jeera rice elevated the experience even further. And to end on a sweet note, we indulged in gulab jamun, which was warm, syrupy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
The service was impeccableâfriendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Whether youâre a lifelong vegetarian or just looking for a flavorful meat-free meal, Indian Tavern delivers an exceptional culinary experience.

Read moreI have ate here a few times now as they are located close to my work. The food is really lovely, great flavors and friendly staff. I have peanut allergies and am careful to ask if the dishes have any nuts in them. On my first couple visits I had asked if nuts were used in the dishes I order and they said they were not, and enjoyed my meals without any issue. After a few visits without any issues I wrongly assumed I was safe to order the same meals and unfortunately I was wrong. I will own my part in this as I should have asked, but for some reason this visit cashews were added to my meal and I had an anaphylactic reaction to it. Thankfully it wasnât severe as I noticed it right away, but I spent the rest of the night suffering with terrible stomach pain and continuous visits to the toilet. I really wish restaurants would mention specifically in the descriptions of each meal which ones contain nuts, considering how deadly this can be some people it should be a mandatory requirement. Iâm not mad, I should have continued asking every time I ordered the same meal, I just figured after eating the same dish multiple times I would be fine. Lesson learned. I just hope this place may consider changing their menu to help...
