UPDATE APRIL 17, 2022

Downgraded to 3 stars. The food was tasty as always, however the service was incredibly lacking to the point of awful. There are only a few tiny tables in that congested little seating area and two of them are against a countertop that folks use to get napkins and dispose of their garbage and put their plates for the staff to pick up. As people come to use this counter, they bump up against you on both sides. Not good at all when trying to drink hot coffee. And the weather is not warm enough today to sit outside without winter clothing.

In addition to that, the prices have skyrocketed...but that is no doubt a ripple effect of the inflationary economy we are all living in at the current time. $7 for a small 12 oz glass of orange juice - fresh squeezed and not chilled but that is still super pricey.

These glaring negatives will definitely deter me from visiting as often as I used to. There comes a tipping point where it's just not fun or financially feasible to visit here. That's sad because the quality of food is fantastic. Initial Visit in 2021

Incredible selection of fine pastries and many other items. I ordered their bacon and egg omelette baguette and a large latte. Both were very delicious and made me want to explore more of their delicious food items.

The only downside was lack of seating space inside the restaurant so we had to sit outside on the street patio which required warm clothing and a coat. It was very busy so our wait was quite long. Prices were on par with this trendy location.

Apart from all that, I look forward to returning here again and recommend others try this great...

Having recently moved to Calgary from Montreal (and having lived in Paris for a few years), I was excited to finally hear about a bakery where I could actually get real baguette and croissants in Calgary, which isn't necessarily known as being a culinary destination. So I bought a white baguette on Friday only to be surprised that it was the last one in the bakery (it was 2pm on a Friday afternoon !) - and also picked up 3 croissants. The total came up to $13 - yikes. I was hoping it was worth the price - but unfortunately, it wasn't. The baguette and the croissants all suffered from spending too much time in the oven - the crust was very dry and thick, which can sometimes be acceptable when it is offset by a moist and elastic interior. But alas, that was not the case. My conclusion is that the product was overpriced and certainly didn't meet my quality standards to which I'm used to. Sadly, the Ace baguette, even though it is frozen and cooked on site at your local supermarket, surpasses the baguette I bought. Quite an insult really when you think about it - and a tragedy as I like to support local artisans who have a passion for what they do, even when its more expensive. The baguette from Première Moisson in Montreal certainly beats the one from La Boulangerie hands down.

Maybe I was unlucky and the person responsible that day slipped up, but irrespective, the end result was less than stellar... that being said, its a trendy part of town - so you can always get away with fancy decor and high prices - just dont expect much if you`re buying a baguette (unless you wish to add it to your soup as an expensive crouton- which is what you normally with your baguette the day AFTER...

I have the unique opportunity to provide feedback as a customer and a delivery driver. Both experiences have been disappointing.

Let's address the positive: Great location and patio. Above average selection for a coffee & pastry shop. I also appreciate the difficulty in starting and running any business. It's a lot harder than it looks.

I was in on 3 separate days. I had a coffee and croissant the first time. No issues and a reasonable level of service although I had to repeat my simple order 3 times with the staff avoiding eye contact for some reason.

The second time I simplified life for the staff by only selecting a scone and had water along its side. The scone was ok but once again, I felt like I was a bother to the 6 staff members that mostly gossiped while dirty tables limited my seat selection while being the only customer at the time.

Finally I was in to pick up an order for a client. It was pointed out to me that there is a "window" out back for the drivers. Again. No eye contact just a rude hand gesture. Upon seeing the "window" I was greeted with a number of signs from "Banging on glass will not be tolerated" to "Rude couriers will be reported". Basically what you'd expect at the city impound lot. The one lady that could see me acted as if I wasn't even there. The other lady was on her cell phone. Think of other places that post similar signage. What is your feeling about such businesses?

Look. I understand that some days are harder than others, but after reading some of the other statements from customers it is clear that customer service is simply not a priority. Enter at...

As a boulangerie it is abundant in the menu and selection of baked goods, from tarts, eclairs, alfajores, muffins, scones, loaves, various laminated pastries, there is something for everyone. They also have a separate plated breakfast/french crepes menu. For many years i gave it a 5-star rating, but recently i have to give it a 4 because it is quite decision fatigue for me so it feels like quantity is favoured over quality. The serving system has room for improvement, because when it’s busy, people scatter around the shop, and they don’t give a table # to keep organized. The spaces between the table are quite close together as well. Not a place to study or do quiet reading/work, but definitely has that Parisian people-watching, conversing with friends vibe. I believe with inflation as well, one croissant/ pastry averaged about $7-8. Some of the prices weren’t clearly specified on the tags anymore.

If there was a minus ten, I would give it. we had eaten there prior to 8 months ago & it was good but it’s obviously changed. This is what we got on July 24, 2024. It was inedible and cost approximately $40 without tip. The crepe was burnt so badly it crumbled -SEE PHOTOS There was barely anything inside it only in the middle. I have had way better crêpes at the farmers market. They aren’t using enough batter because they are being cheap. That’s why it’s burnt to a crisp. It’s too thin. The tomato on my crêpe along with the one on my partners sandwich was almost rotten and had pieces that you could not even pierce with your fingernails. How would you eat that there are fresh tomatoes in July in Calgary!! in addition the food had no taste to it. It had no salt it was pretty disgusting. I eat out a lot and I’m a very good cook. Why am I paying for slop like this?YUCK!!!!
