New customers! Don't over complicate it. Get the combo for two and let these sweet well informed staff carry you through service. We love this place but please please please make a peanut free Satay broth 🥺. I know us peanut people are annoying but you already have the peanut free sauce. Give a guy a broth! Either way amazing food and service will be back.
Also, the restaurant manager in me would suggest breaking up the room a bit. The nature of this cuisines' service is particularly messy and difficult to eat and even more difficult for your staff to bus. I would suggest getting some large plants and taller room dividers and larger soup bowls. There are a lot of sound mitigating room dividers you can buy relatively cheaply. This would help shield from vision the unbussed tables from customers mid service. It's not your crew's fault the tables are exceedingly messy. Dining at your restaurant (about 20 times now) I'm always embarrassed at how much of a mess I make. I was actually thoroughly impressed how well these tables were bussed. Nevertheless, it is a distraction in service. Being as wide open as your floor is with the tables all lined up it kind of gives loud cafeteria vibes and cheapens the dinning experience. Your service is excellent and the food is incredible. My 15 years of fine dining management and service experience leads me to gently suggest breaking up the room a bit with tall eye catching dividers, some cuisine related art work, lower the florescent lighting and put the convenience store beer cooler that you have at the front of the restaurant in the back out of sight. Also, for us annoying peanut people. Put the peanut Satay sauce on a different table then the rest of the sauces. This isn't a personal preference but it will save you a potential lawsuit for cross contamination. I'm nearly 40 years old and this is the first time I've had a peanut free Satay sauce and I love it. I hate how annoying us peanut people can be and most of us normal ones don't want to deprive people of peanuts. Just make a few simple and cheap changes for me to eat there safely. It doesn't make sense to expose yourselves to unnecessary and financially crippling risk over a simple and cheap fix.
These are obviously just suggestions. If I'm being honest I would still be a return customer if you sat me in the dish pit. Really great work. 10/10
(Review response) I'll be bringing in my mom this Monday for her first hot pot experience. See you then! Also love the...
Read moreWe came here during lunch time, where it was a bit slower, so we didn't know what to expect. We were there to celebrate my mother's birthday, and my sister's graduation!
The server was incredibly attentive and delightful. He helped us explain the menu, and then farther in, gave us tips on how to navigate the routine of hot pot more efficiently. I think we were all just excited that we allowed our famial chaos to take over, but he was there to save the day 😅
We tried the beef bone broth and the satay broth. The Satay broth is very tasty, so when trying a cleaner broth such as the Beef Bone directly right after, it would appear that it has a subtle taste. But after letting my taste buds settle and coming back to the Beef Bone broth, I understood it to be delectable. Very high quality and comforting. My mother even took it home 😂
We got the first combo with just the AAA beef and added an a la carte Sliced Wagyu Sirloin, handmade beef balls and Beef Tongue. It was so interesting to taste all the different parts of the cow; it was more of an experience than I was expecting-- in such an engaging and fun way. It was the first time any of us tried Wagyu, so it is difficult to have a point of reference, but we have all concluded we would like to come back and try more cuts of beef, and take our exploration farther!
The Veggie Bowl came with the combo. Lots of shroomies, fungi, tofu and greens. It was plenty enough for us. The presentation was also beautiful.
The sauces had a beautiful selection, primarily a Creamy Sesame paste that I found unique (as opposed to a normal sesame paste, which was also available!).
The whole atmosphere had a clean look about it, that had a few emphatic features such as a large cow mural and Monroe's face on a tapestry-- it led to a photo opp 🤭
Lastly, the server presented us with a cake slice for my mother's birthday. It was literally the icing in the cake! We appreciated it so much. He was so kind and in all honesty, the server really elevated our experience. I can tell a lot of heart and soul went into the vision of this restaurant and I felt as warm as my hot pot meal was delicious.
I'm thankful for having spent such monumental occasions here and will be returning in the future (I'll need to bring more people to get the Wagyu...
Read moreAs hot pot lovers and beef lovers my wife and I could not believe our good fortune in having a restaurant like Master Beef in our city! It is quickly becoming our new favourite restaurant and we can't help but go there weekly!
The cuts of beef are absolutely top quality and are incredibly tender and flavourful when cooked perfectly shabu-shabu style in the delicious broths. Their selection of sauce ingredients is also fresh, varied, and high quality! Dipping a perfectly cooked piece of tender and fatty beef into the complex sauces and then immediately eating was amazing enough to literally bring a tear to our eye! Truly one of the most enjoyable food experiences in the city and an amazing treat for the palate at a very fair price!
The service is always friendly and attentive and the owner is super nice and always happy to see us and treat us like old friends!
We were also seriously impressed by how attentive the restaurant was when we brought our friend with several food allergies including shellfish. The staff carefully brought fresh sauce ingredients from the kitchen and were super careful to prevent cross contamination and our friend was fine. The only mishap was that she forgot her epipen at the restaurant however the owner held onto it for us and gave it back the next time we went!
Overall Master Beef has amazing food, staff, and owners and is a must visit for anyone who loves...
