We went today to try out this new Bangladeshi restaurant in Calgary for lunch. This restaurant is spacious, clean, and well-kept. We orderd Beef Tehari, vegetables and fish curry. Food arrived within a reasonable time. The Fish curry was okay, but the Terhari was a far away from expectations. The service, however, needs to be much improved because it is currently quite below standard. Suddenly, a plate of Tehari was placed on our table along with an odd and improper spoon to eat. There was no water or glass before the food was served. No one even bothered to inquire about our beverage preferences. When we requested water, a young girl—possibly 12–14 years old—arrived with two glasses and water. Fish Curry and a plate of rice were served on table, but no plates, spoons, or forks were provided. The entire experience was extremely unprofessional and awful. We had to ask for each and everything from plates to utensils. The owner needs to realise that we, the customers, pay for quality food and good service. We eat out to have fun and have a good time, not necessarily because we are hungry. I realise that meeting another Bangalee makes many of us very excited, but we shouldn't forget to act professionally when the visit is strictly for business. Customers may find takeout to be a good alternative right now, but going out to eat with friends or family with the current service standard could be embarrassing. I hope the restaurant will react positively and strive to improve its standard so that it can attract repeat business and referrals.

Miraj Restaurant in Calgary is a fantastic destination for anyone seeking authentic South Asian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The decor is elegantly styled, blending traditional elements with modern touches, creating a comfortable setting for dining. The menu at Miraj is extensive, offering a wide variety of dishes that cater to diverse palates. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries, flavorful biryanis, or tandoori specialties, there's something for everyone. The chicken tikka masala is a standout dish—rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The biryani is another highlight, perfectly cooked and aromatic, making it a must-try for rice lovers. Vegetarians will also find plenty of options, with dishes like palak paneer and chana masala that are both hearty and delicious. The naan is freshly baked and complements the meals perfectly. Service at Miraj is exceptional; the staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend dishes based on your preferences. The overall dining experience is enhanced by the staff's friendliness and commitment to customer satisfaction. In summary, Miraj Restaurant offers a delightful combination of delicious food, inviting ambiance, and excellent service. It’s a perfect spot for family gatherings, special occasions, or simply a satisfying meal. Whether you're a long-time fan of South Asian cuisine or a newcomer, Miraj is sure to impress.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Miraj Restaurant in Calgary for their buffet breakfast, and it was a delightful experience. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the delicious Bangladeshi cuisine on offer. The diverse selection of dishes was not only flavorful but also authentic, providing a taste of home-cooked Bangladeshi flavors. What particularly stood out during my visit was the unhurried atmosphere. Unlike some buffet places where you feel rushed, Miraj Restaurant allowed diners to savor their meals at their own pace. This made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Another plus point was the convenience of parking. Finding a parking spot was a breeze, which is often a concern in busy areas. This added to the overall convenience of dining at Miraj. Lastly, I must commend the restaurant for its commitment to hygiene. Cleanliness and safety are paramount, especially in the current climate, and Miraj Restaurant certainly delivered on this front. In summary, my visit to Miraj Restaurant for their buffet breakfast was a satisfying experience. If you're looking for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine in a relaxed environment with easy parking and a focus on hygiene, I highly recommend giving Miraj Restaurant a try. It's a culinary journey worth taking in Calgary.

Miraj Restaurant is a fantastic choice for those looking to enjoy authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. With a menu that features a wide range of savory and sweet dishes, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Chicken Biryani (Karachi) and Beef Biryani (Karachi) are both outstanding, with perfectly cooked rice and tender, flavorful meat. The Beef Tehari and Mutton Biryani are also excellent, offering a heartier meal for those who are especially hungry. The Mutton Kacchi (Dom) Biryani and Shank Kacchi (Dom) Biryani are both must-tries for those who love biryanis. The Morog Polou, Kalavuna with Polou, and Ilish Polou are all delicious options for those looking for a traditional rice dish.

The curry offerings are top-notch, with standout dishes like the Butter Chicken, Chicken Karahi, and Mutton Karahi. The Shrimp Curry is also excellent, with perfectly cooked shrimp in a flavorful sauce. The Fish Curry (3) and Rupchanda Fry are great options for those who love seafood, while the Tilapia Fry and Tilapia Dupeyaja are both must-tries for fish lovers.

The samosas, including the Chicken Samosa, Beef Samosa, Vegetable Samosa, and Liver Samosa, are all crispy and delicious. The Dal Puri and Moglai Paratha are perfect for those looking for a more traditional dining experience, while the Vegetable Pakora and Fish Pakora are great for those who love a crispy crunch.

The Thai Soup is a great way to start the meal, while the Shahi Jelabi and Payesh are both sweet treats that are sure to satisfy. The Tea, Mango Lassi, and other drinks are all refreshing options that are perfect for washing down the meal.

I have some feedback for Miraj Restaurant, I hope they don’t take it negatively because there is a lot of opportunities to improve, otherwise they will end up closing the restaurant.First and foremost, they need to learn a lot about customer service. When I entered the restaurant, I saw 2 employees but nobody even said welcome to us. After waiting for a while, a girl came with a menu.when I was ready to order, she started informing us that more than half of the menus are not available now. I was disappointed obviously as it was my first visit.if you have opened a restaurant and you can’t order half of the menus, then You really need to review the menu &make it shorter.Well I ended up ordering beef tehari & morog polao. When they served the food, I found out the morog polao is cold inside (they didn’t even learn how to microwave the food). Also they gave me very small portion of rice and baby chicken leg which is another negative side because compared to other Bengali restaurants, Miraj is giving less portion with the same amount of money .Then let’s talk about the beef tehari, another disappointment. They gave me (I guess it was cooked more than a week ago) stale food, obviously not fresh at all.the beef was so hard like stone and they gave me all the burnt rice from the bottom of the pan!! This was insult to the next level. They gave no salad with any of the food whereas it’s complimentary in every single restaurant (even takeout). After this horrible experience, I will definitely not go there anymore unless I see these improvements.Being a Pakistani,I love Bengali food and that’s why I always visit the Bengali restaurants. Please try to follow other restaurants who are doing good in providing outstanding customer service. The food quality needs to be improved a lot. We as a customer don’t deserve stale/brunt food as we are not eating...

A Warm, Homely Bengali Dining Experience Away from Home

As a newcomer to this city from Toronto, I found myself yearning for some authentic Bengali food that would take me back to the warmth and comfort of my home kitchen. Luckily, I stumbled upon this hidden gem among the plethora of Bengali restaurants in the area. If you are seeking a cozy atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and truly authentic Bengali cuisine, look no further.

From the moment I stepped in, I was embraced by a sense of familiarity and warmth reminiscent of a family dinner at a close friend's house. The owners are incredibly welcoming, making the entire experience feel genuinely homely.

What truly sets this restaurant apart is its commitment to authenticity. Unlike the Basmati rice that has become commonplace, this restaurant uses a unique and delightful grain that adds a distinctive touch to their dishes. The "Kalabhuna with Polao" transported me right back to my mother's kitchen, a taste I've been unable to find in other Bengali eateries in Canada and beyond.

Additionally, the décor here breaks the mold of traditional Bengali restaurant designs, focusing instead on creating a comfortable, home-like environment. This is a refreshing and much-appreciated approach for those of us living abroad, seeking a connection to our roots.

Not only is this restaurant spotlessly clean and hygienic, but the owners are more than happy to engage in conversation, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're craving a satisfying Bengali meal that fulfills your nostalgia checklist, this is the place to be.

My recommendation: skip the usual biryanis and opt for steamed or fragrant rice with your choice of sides, replicating your favorite homemade meal. Trust me, you won't be...
