We checked out Norley's for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions.
We ordered: Corn Empanadas - cheese and chicken, both great, but we had actually asked for beef and not chicken and we'd already bitten into them when we discovered they were chicken. Ended up loving them anyway!
Picada - so much tasty meat, but the beef, chicken, and crispy pork belly were the best. The Arepas were fantastic, not too thick. I think we would have wanted a whole basket of them to go with all the meat because we definitely ran out of them before the meat was finished.
Beef Tacos - shredded beef and a lot of it! They were good and the vinegar-forward salsa went well with them.
Chicharron - who doesn't love crispy bits of pork and skin? They needed a bit more salt from when they came out of the deep fryer, but they were still really flavourful and crunchy.
We had some pretty quick service and there was nice live music the night we came by. We want to come back and try out the rest of...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this restaurant but what a disappointment. We are Colombians and let me tell you, this isn’t authentic Colombian food. What we ordered :
Blackberry and passion fruit juice: a simple juice and they were missing flavour …just ice.
PICADA: We DON’T eat this with a bunch of spinach leaves . Half of the dish was salad. The beef and chicken were dried and tasteless . Papa criolla, morcilla and chorizo were horrible.. the Aji sauce not even close to what it really taste in Colombia — flavour was just like vinegar - arepa was tasteless no salt, no butter. The only ingredients that were ok plantain and chicharron . In the menu they mentioned ribs well we didn’t get any ribs.
Arepa the choclo: hmm let’s say that it was ok. It was missing flavour and butter.
The prices are outrageous, you could probably make your own at home for way cheaper or if you want to taste real COLOMBIAN FOOD go to TERE’S KITCHEN way cheaper and delicious.
Sad but We definitely...
Read moreLoved the decor inside this small Colombian restaurant, a little to tight for a nice family dinner , but looked great for in/out service. Service was good , food came out within reasonable time, and the waitress was very attentive. Thanks for the mini Valentine’s cupcakes by the way, definitely a plus! Food was ok, not amazing. Picada was simple in taste and presentation, executive meal was much better, and the tostones / empanadas were delicious. I was not fond of having to pay before we ate. I must of gotten up like 3 times just to order something else. Also, compared to other Colombian restaurants, I felt like the pricing on various things we ate, was definitely a little higher here. Fairly new restaurant, could use some adjustments, and I know this restaurant is not far from becoming the next top Colombian restaurant in Calgary in the near future....
