This place is a real hidden gem. I happened to stop in here once about 3 years ago and am so glad i did. I have been back so many times since. The food is great! A definite step up from regular pub fare. You can tell the owner of this little pub takes food quality seriously. Beer selection is awesome! I was surprised by the great variety of beers available, especially their craft beer selection. So many great options to choose from. They are just about the only spot I know of in Calgary that carries BOTH my 2 favorite craft beers (blue buck and gypsy tears). I've discovered a couple new beers here too. Staff... well I've only ever seen 1 person working here in the past couple years that I can recall and I'll certainly be disappointed if she ever leaves. She is one of the best waitresses I've ever met. I have to wonder if she perhaps has some measure of ownership in this pub as she certainly represents it to the best of her ability. Decor is decent - it neither detracts or adds significantly to the experience overall - though the back lit bar is really cool and the fireplace is sure nice on those cold nights. Lot of tvs so a good spot to watch a game. Plenty of VLTs as well if that's your thing. Wish they still had their pool table but I get that they needed more customer seating area. Perhaps the next time the adjacent bay comes up for lease they can take a bit of that space and expand. Overall I definitely recommend...
Read moreNottingham's Pub serves some of the coldest beer in Calgary! Their tap selection is reserved for craft brews, but "session" beers like Bud, Kokanee and many others are available by the bottle. The Common Crown Blonde Ale is a very refreshing drink. On-tap beers at Nottingham's are available in real 20 oz. pints and 14 oz. sleeves. The staff are super friendly and attentive. I have read several reviews that mention that their beer prices are a bit high, but paying $6 to $8 for a 20 oz. pint of craft beer is on par with the 16/18 oz. pricing for on-tap swill found at most pubs in Calgary, so I don't know where that criticism comes from. Maybe those folks didn't realize that the pints at Nottingham's are actually British Imperial Pints (20 oz./568 ml) and not wimpy American Pints (16...
Read moreMother and I waited over an hour for an order of fish tacos and a bowl of split pea and ham soup. When it finally came, my mother was not impressed at all, that the 4 inch wide taco was stacked with lettuce, avocado, salsa, and 2 very slim slices of fish on the top, The size of my pinky finger. It was quite literally a salad taco. The fish flavor was non-existent. The roughage outweighed the fish by a landslide. It was but worth the wait! The large soup was a very small dish. Needless to say, we both left hungry, We went to the Bowness Pub where we know the service is quick and the food is delicious. I did speak to the server, she was very polite. However; the time it took for the food to come out was abysmal. I am frequently eating out....
