I have been dining at this restaurant for years. I appreciate the fact that it is a family run restaurant and that the food is usually dependably good. I was once asked to leave at 9:00 P.M. by the father, owner, because we were the only patrons in the restaurant and he wanted to go home. I overlooked it as I know these are not the best times for the restauranteurs in Calgary. Lately though, I am concerned that the quantity and qualtity of food presented has decreased significantly. I ordered a Caesar salad a couple of weeks ago and received a salad with far too many of the tough outer romaine leaves that chefs usually discard. The blackened chicken on top was such a small quantity that I thought perhaps there had been an mistake.
Then tonight (chicken dinner with sauce and vegetables) for $32 I had the tiniest chicken breast imaginable. Further, if there was even one whole piece of asparagus and one whole mushroom chopped into the sauce I would be surprised. Vegetables were almost nonexistent. My friend had the same meal and thought that the cook had forgotten to include the asparagus because she missed seeing it. I had a lot of potatoes on my plate but those do not replace vegetables.
The prices have always been on the higher side at Pasquales. The restaurant must commit itself to keeping quality and quantity up or patrons will definitely fine somewhere else to eat, especially as the service can be a bit clipped and abrupt...
Read moreI can't give a zero rating, but I would if I could. We chose Pasquales because it had good reviews. We should have read the bad ones.
We were celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary and had noted the reason for the celebration on our reservation. We were seated in the corner of a noisy area with two large tables. The waitress, while nice, was so busy that she rarely checked on us. My husband ordered a steak that was terrible: grissly and under-cooked (definitely not the medium rare he had ordered). When the waitress was finally close enough to our table so we could catch her attention, she took the steak back. She changed it for a better cut of steak, but rushed it so much that it was rare inside - not at all what my husband wanted. My pasta was fine, but tasteless. The garlic bread was dry and not garlicky. When we paid our bill, the owner didn't ask about our dinner or our experience - she didn't seem to care - but she made a point of happily welcomeing people who she seemed to know.
We eat out often, tip well for good food and service, and return to our favourite places. We like to try new-to-us restaurant. We were hoping that Pasquales would have become another favourite. Our experience was terrible and we will...
Read moreI wasn't going to do this but I felt I had to, I took my sister for her birthday dinner there. i have seen the billboards around town and read a few reviews on Pasquales. I was thouroughly dissapointed. The waitress we had was short, had zero personality and I don't think I saw her smile once, she was super busy and like a robot. The veal I ordered came with a lemon slice thank god cause it was alike a dried out pancake, no substance, and my side was what looked like and tasted like an old dried out baked potatoe sliced in four, i had to ask for some staek sauce to tray and choke one of them down. The carrot was a big old root carrot, and very under cooked. My sister had a steak which came with the same sides. I think almost every bite she had to pull it out of her mouth, it was so fatty, and touch, She didn't eat half of her plate and didn't get it to go. I can only say the best part of my experience there was the ceasar salad we ordered to share for an appetizer. The place was packed, so maybe we ordered the wrong thing? Or got the worst waitress? I would not go back, expecially after what I had to...
