Disappointing that their "new" coffee bags are just a reason to shrink the coffee bean weight down to 250g!!!! Renaming their filter coffee to stupid names like "Mystic melon" and "Sugar Heist" make it confusing to find the beans I used to purchase. I used to just look for Guatemalan, Costa Rican or Ethiopian...now I have to search under these new dumb names to see what country the beans are from if it is even listed and their flavour profile which used to be a simple 3 ring chart system.
Adios folks, tired of this stupidity/scam. Time to give Rosso and Monogram coffee a better look. This company has become an unlaughable joke. The DFA 1979 blend is worse than Anchored's Rink Drink (At least that is 340g)
Your reply is an even bigger joke. Not only is it a full-blown gasbag essay like the ridiculous descriptions of each of your coffees on your website. Who has the time to go read this spew. Just label the country the bean comes from and a flavour profile. Simple. I realize the beans can taste different from the same producer but I understand that and so do your customers. We're not that stupid.
As you say, "forcing" me to adapt just ain't cool. Bad design, bad explanations. Even the website is a horror now. It took forever to find my account and log in, let alone see past purchases...it's not hard to track how much you have jacked your prices and continually offered less product.. .. so have my friends, and they have decided to move on from your coffee as well. I have bought your coffee for years... your 2.86 lb bag has gone down to 2.5 lbs and the price has gone up. You say you've dropped the price and offer less bean per bag, I call bullshit on the price drop. Have bought your product for over 10 years, We have supported all the changes that come with bean prices and your battle as a Canadian business but enough is enough. No need to keep masking your changes with new bags and 42$ 100 gram tins of coffee ( that doesn't even last 1.5 days at home) I guarantee these farmers aren't making more than your baristas for producing coffee. Best of luck with a new audience who never knew how easy your product was to purchase long ago.
Used to be able to look at my phone and order coffee from you in less than 10 seconds, now it is a horror show. I have been trying to adapt for months now...
Read moreReview on the Finca Sophia Tasting Experience – A Coffee Lover’s Dream!
The Finca Sophia Tasting Experience was truly unforgettable! From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere was intimate and welcoming, and Phil were incredibly knowledgeable, guiding me through the journey of one of the world’s most exclusive coffees.
Opting for the private tasting allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience. Tasting the coffee at different time intervals truly showcased its evolving complexity, as it cooled, the bright citrus and floral notes softened into a delicate, tea-like body with layers of depth. One of the most striking flavours was the distinct lychee note, adding a beautifully sweet and slightly tropical dimension to the cup. Every sip offered something new, making the experience both fascinating and rewarding.
Having the tasting led by Phil himself was an added bonus. His expertise and passion for coffee were evident as he walked me through every step of the process, from the meticulous flash-freezing of the beans to preserve their quality to the incredible effort taken in transporting them. Learning that Sebastian personally flew to Panama to pick up the beans, ensuring they arrived in pristine condition, highlighted the dedication behind every detail of this experience.
Another standout element was the custom cup and plate used for the tasting, beautifully crafted by local artist Quin Cheung of Quinspired Ceramics. The design complemented the tasting perfectly, adding an extra layer of artistry and thoughtfulness to the experience.
Tasting a coffee sourced from the prestigious Best of Panama auction is an incredibly rare opportunity, and I feel fortunate to have experienced it in such a carefully curated setting. If you're a coffee enthusiast or someone who appreciates exceptional craftsmanship, this is an absolute must-try. Highly...
Read moreWas in a couple weeks back (Sat Aug 8 to be exact). I was visiting from out of town and was staying across the street at the Alt. When I went to make my order I sympathized with the barista (guy) taking my order about struggling to hear customers speak as I too work in the coffee industry. The barista looked at me with a look that communicated, “uh, how would you know?!” So I pointed at my mask which had a Starbucks logo on it. The barista looked at the siren, rolled his eyes, and responded with an uninterested, “Oh....”. The visit wasn’t what I had expected, from what I had heard from others, and was quite turned off by the experience.
We ordered an oat latte and an americano and with the beans being more on the lighter roast didn’t care for either drinks. Sadly, we had already gotten in to the car to get to a brunch we were already late for, otherwise I would have gone back in to ask for new drinks. I’m sure the coffee isn’t awful, with the amount of locations there must be something desirable. It just wasn’t for me.
When visiting Calgary again, I’ll be sure to try another location in order to gain a better perspective of...
