The food—amazing. The customer service—a bit rude, and left me rubbed the wrong way. I had an appointment at 6PM, and arrived at the restaurant at 4:45PM. It's not busy, only three customers in the entire place. There is single outlet in the entire restaurant, and I'd like to work on my laptop while I wait and eat my food. The manager says he's not allowed to seat me at the large table, but he makes an accomondation for me, which I appreciate. I have no problem moving if it gets busy, but there are literally only 3 people in the restaurant. My food arrives, and I continue work on my laptop. At 5:25PM, the manager appears with the bill at my table. This is strange to me, as I've been here at least 10 times and they never bring your bill to the table, you always pay at the counter after your meal. This is true of the Canmore and Banff locations too. There was no line, no people waiting for a table. I was dressed nicely, I'm a young professional, I cannot think of a single reason that he wanted me to leave except that my presence annoyed him-sure, perhaps he wanted the table to be free for future customers, but this place doesn't take reservations and it was very dead. I was left with 35 minutes to kill on an extremely smokey day outside, and got to spend $7 at hexagon cafe so I had somewhere to spend indoors until my appointment. For a new business in the Calgary area, I would think that trying to build a customer base that comes back again and again would be the goal—instead I was rushed out, the reason left unclear to me, leaving me feeling unvalued and left in a spot where I had to spend more money to avoid the smoke. Grab it as takeout if you wish, but I will not be coming back or recomdending it to friends after being a customer for 2 years at...
Read moreRamen Arashi offers a dining experience that truly stands out, especially for ramen enthusiasts. I decided to try their ramen with peanut broth, and it was nothing short of incredible. The broth was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, carrying a delightful hint of spiciness that added depth without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of broth that keeps you coming back for more, comforting and indulgent at the same time.
The pork was another highlight of the meal. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, adding a substantial and meaty element to the dish. Every bite of pork, combined with the flavorful broth and noodles, felt satisfying and well-balanced. The noodles themselves were cooked just right, with a good bite that absorbed the flavors beautifully.
I ordered my ramen with extra soup, which I highly recommend if you enjoy savoring the broth—it’s worth every sip. This dish was not only delicious but also incredibly filling, making it an excellent choice for a hearty meal.
Although I focused on the ramen this time, a friend highly recommended their karaage bowl. Based on their enthusiasm, I’ll definitely make a point to try it during my next visit. Additionally, the restaurant offers a loyalty program, which is a nice incentive for repeat customers. It’s always great to see places rewarding their regulars, and I can already see myself coming back to earn some points.
Overall, Ramen Arashi exceeded my expectations. From the flavorful peanut broth to the meaty pork and generous portions, every element of the meal was carefully crafted to deliver an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a ramen lover or just looking for a satisfying and delicious meal, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I know I’ll be...
Read moreWent to try this newly opened ramen spot in Kensington - it's a small but comfortable space that isn't overly crowded with too many tables and chairs. They have a bar where you can sit right by the kitchen to watch your food be prepared as well as a few tables for larger groups. Arrived at 2.30pm and they went to find a table for me right away and apologised for the wait while they quickly cleaned a table even though it took no time at all. Their menu is simple but with just enough variety to choose from, and while they have a handful of appetizers and other dishes, their main focus however is on ramen. I picked a traditional tonkotsu ramen. The broth is deliciously rich and creamy but not overly so, the bowl was topped with a soy and sesame oil for added flavour depth, but the best part was the chashu! 2 large generous sized slices of tender pork shoulder that melted in your mouth. This was the best chashu I've ever had in a ramen. Their ajitsu tamago (soy egg) was so soft and perfectly done as soft poached.
I also liked that they didn't go over the top with toppings unlike a lot of other places- the small amount of grated pickled ginger provided a welcome tartness to cut through the rich pork and broth. For what I paid, $16.95 before tax and tips, this was a good sized portion and quality and would absolutely go back just for this! I've previously had ramen from places that charged around the same but with much smaller amounts of meat and toppings or just very poor quality meat. On paying they also gave me a loyalty card- for every 5 orders of ramen you receive a...
