We came in to watch the england/spain game and get some food. Ordered an eggs benedict off the brunch menu and some appetizers (fried pickles and potato skins). In 80 minutes, we got: 2 pepsi, a glass of water, and 1 beer. The person who ordered the water arrived about half an hour later and asked for a coffee as well, but said coffee never made it to the table in the subsequent 40 minutes. Our server basically ignored us, focusing on serving beer from the bar. Never asked to see if we wanted/needed refills(which we did, as our cups sat empty for nearly 40 minutes), or offer any update on why our food is taking so long, especially when we're watching people who arrived after us in other sections, including the outdoor street patio, getting their food while we couldn't even get a cup of coffee. Our server just avoided eye contact and served beer.
When we said enough is enough and wanted to leave after being neglected for over an hour, my girlfriend talked to the woman who was actually managing the bar, explained the situation, and she said we were square for what little we did receive. Then, magically our food was ready within seconds, and was brought out by a different server, who explained that "we're swamped with only 4 servers." Like, that's fine, we get it, but when every other section of the place is being seated, served, refilled, and food on the table in a fraction of the time, it is not disrespectful to say that we were upset with our service, and that taking over an hour for even the fried pickles and potato skins we had ordered to snack on during the game (which was now almost over) is absolutely unacceptable.
I am giving 2 stars for service only because of the woman managing the bar handling the situation. This isn't her fault, nor the follow-up server who got sent to our table with the food. This hasn't been the first time our initial server has left us hanging, but it will be the last. Despite living nearby we will not...

My server Trevor messed up my requesting extra sauce on my burger and extra sauce on the side even though i asked 3 times and had already paid for it. No napkins, no second drink i ordered. Then Trevor told me i was always fussy and when i asked him why i can’t have the sauce i paid for he gets inches from my face like he is doing a standoff for the ultimate fighting championship and swears in my face the “F” word and says he is tired of my “s” word that i always give the staff a hard time. Then the manager Cayda got involved, and apologized on his behalf.
Cayda is an angel, she should get a raise. Kind eyes, well dressed, very well spoken. I think Trevor should be fired. He was not even man enough to apologize to my face. I was never rude to the staff i have been coming to side street over 7 years cause i love their burger specials, sometimes they mess up my order cause i can’t have bread or tomato but i am always understanding and polite. This guy swears at me and try’s to step into my space to have a fight (and i am much smaller than him and I was sitting down) over a mistake he made for sauce i paid for. And apparently Trevor was having a bad day, i think this is a worthless excuse. We all have bad days, but most people have enough self respect to act professionally and not lose the customers that pay their business's salary over a mistake they made, and also make the whole business they work for look bad. I do not know if i will ever be...
Read moreI first heard about side street on Reddit as the go to Raptors pub in Calgary. I finally made my way over for game one of the finals and immediately regretted not coming for every post season game. I have since come for games 3 and 4 and am currently writing this at the pub waiting for game 5 to start. The atmosphere for the games is electric. It's like you're at the game live with people cheering and chanting. If you aren't a sports fan there is still a lot here for you. The service is second to none. Game 4 I sat outside for the first half and it was freezing, but the servers did a great job staying attentive and acting like the cold wasn't an issue. The staff bust their * here and try to make sure everyone is having a good time. They also have the best wings in the city and the daily deals are all awesome. Raptors playoff run helped me discover side street, but I will be returning even in the off season for a pitcher and some wings. Next post season I'll be here every game. P.S for anyone coming to a big post season game, show up EARLY! Place fills up quick, and while they will try their best to accommodate you, they can only do so much. Could not recommend Side Street Pub...
